Anyone else watching the MPC press conference? I must say, Andrew Bailey does seem to find a lot to laugh and smile about. He's clearly enjoying himself.

No , up because of the war in Ukraine which has pushed up the price of energy . However food prices “might” come down slightly because Russia has agreed to let Ukrainian wheat leave port. Just have to make sure that port isn’t used for military purposes or Russia will blockade it again.

Food -No Energy- No . Everything is stemming from the high cost of energy due to the war in Ukraine . Believe it or not it’s also hitting the wonderful ( get nothing wrong , all singing all dancing ) EU.

It's not all down to rising energy costs. Brexit generated supply chain issues and price gouging are part of it too.

The MPC has voted raise the base rate to 3.5%.
Apparently the vote was split three ways - Six in favour of the 0.5% increase, one wanted a bigger hike, and two voted for a pause in tightening.

And what's even better is that, as the BoE is clearly tracking the Fed, we could see rates increase above 5% next year.

Not sure raising interest rates works. Inflation is affecting food and energy, are we supposed to all eat value food until manufacturers drop their prices?

100% agree with this ( wow)....Interest rates have been rising for a number of months now, and inflation, particularly food inflation is still rising, so the interest rates increases are not working.
This inflation is different from inflation in the past, and interest rate increases are not touching it.
Greed is firing this inflation imo

No they just don’t want you to eat at all, which will ultimately help the supply issues caused by Brexit
