I am glad it is not only me who has a fight with a Fray Bentos pie tin, they are quite nice though. Jay Raynor probably does not eat Fray Bentos Pies, Westlers Burgers or Vesta meals so I have to do it. If he does he would not admit to it because of the shame. Anyway, I have got a better haircut than him, eat your heart out Jay.
He doesn't eat them because they are manufactured pseudo food and it's a disgrace that its allowed to even be on the shelves.

I may be in a minority of having enjoyed a Westlers burger. Heated up on a burger trolley in tray of brine, then served in the obligatory bap with a slice of chemically produced cheese, wilted onions and tomato ketchup which if stored en mass would have posed a public health hazard. Mind you I am going back to a time where Wimpy was the predominant burger place on the streets of the UK, with Macdonald's being merely an American come lately upstart. Happy days.

There was an England cricketer who took a whole cricket bag full of Vesta curries on tours to India and Pakistan to avoid the local food.

When you used to see those Westlers carts around sports stadiums, other events and dotted across London, I used to wonder who owned them all and where they got stored. Surely the burger-boiling-man didn’t just wheel it out & stick it in his garden between gigs?

Often use Spam for fishing bait , bonus is when the fishings slow i can nick some of the spam

In a fairness BR I think the smell of the bogs might of been my Grandads outside toilet on Windsor Rd

I had never heard of these burgers before reading this thread, wont be trying them out now either !

Unfortunately there are people who can only afford this type of food and whilst there is a demand for it the supermarkets will stock it. I have seen some cheap burgers in Iceland that look completely unfit to eat, yet the sell them.

If you cook your own food as I do, food is still very cheap to buy in UK, especially in relation to the food prices in many countries abroad.
Many people are too busy or lazy to cook their own food, live on takeaways or ready made meals, microwave meals etc.

There used to be some pretty grim tinned meats imported from Denmark on the supermarket shelves, whether they are still around I do not know. So your post does not surprise me.

To be fair, only the Fray Bentos pies, and then they usually sit in the cupboard for months until I get really desperate, or lazy, or both.
It can take a few months to open a Fray Bentos pie if you get the wrong one.
