And we are underway.in Semi Final 1:

At the nearly half way point this is the closest race so far. Not much to choose between any of them but a slight advantage to Beradogs, BIGRON and Disoriented.

And we are over the line........

Semi Final 1 Results (first 4 qualify for the grand final). Late runs from Admin and Constanza, Admin urged on again as he was in the javelin by several men looking like an advert for a designer undertakers. Final positions:

Approaching half way and the anticipated clash between Max and Celtient is a bit of a damp squib with Celtient slow out of the blocks and Max an impressive second....

Nearing the end and Adz and Thor are largely run out of it...........

Max romps it, no sign of tuffers#1 (now sadly sidelined in this competition) and the tunnocks though. Dunners and Constanza progress to the finals, a creditable effort from our javelin superstars. Impressive overall skills.

It is a pretty heavyweight line up featuring many Boarding legends. All honestly random guys, it is the way the virtual dice have fallen. Hardest Boarder Ron has finally made a final, Admin's thinly veiled threats have worked and others have the chance to register their second medal of the Olympiad.

Haven't got my leg over this much since 2005.

Just off to Ditchfields, we've run out of caps for the starters gun.

It's OK, we've borrowed one from one of Admin's minders.

The competitors take their places, remember Ron this is a staggered rather than staggering start.

Biding my time - preserving energy by sliding home in 4th place each qualifying race. Now for the big whack of steroids, coke and red bull.

The starter raises his gun and fires.

Impressive, 2 pigeons with 1 bullet and a 200 metres final started.......

BIGRON, StillSpike and Eliotness quickly out of the blocks but we are waiting for the stagger to unwind before being able to judge accurately.

Probably a third to a half way through now, not a stagger in sight and this is close.........

The virtual dice are flying faster than the runner's feet...........

I think we are a toss or two away from the line...........
