I think Lingy himself mentioned that in his difficulty to get people to treat him equally when applying for jobs after Torquay. I think he would just want a level playing field, no special treatment.

There seems to be a bit of hypocrisy at play for some. In the stands last year I did hear someone say it was out of order to criticise Ling for Davis because of mental health, yet a player fouled one of ours and he gave out some personal abuse on a scale that was quite unwarranted.

Given the nature of the game there must be plenty of people who are suffering in private for fear of losing their livelihoods yet home fans will abuse them every week under the guise of 'banter'.

This is spot on. I've heaped praise on him but his mental health battles bear no relevance to my judgement of him as a professional. To be fair, I think people citing his struggles are well-intentioned and he does deserve a huge amount of respect for his openness about the issue but I have no doubt he'd want to be judged by the job he does and nothing else.
