Come on we all know there are so called Orient fans who take great delight in abusing those who they alone have decided they don't like, whether they play well or not. We have seen much of this in the past with, in one case, an Orient player being verbally abused even before the kick-off had taken place.
Why is Martin Ling to blame? The board collectivly made the decision not the Director of Football alone.
I swear that if the ground ran out of Onuts he would get the blame.
Mikero
Because he pushed Fletcher forward as he did Davis!
Ling said it in an interview. He literally spoke about how he approached Ross and said "I think you should take the role on". Shortly after he then admitted that he could tell Ross wasn't suitable being #1 and more comfortable as an assistant.
Approaching is not Forcing
Its approaching , asking .
Where did he admit Ross wasnt suitable ?
Show evudence ,
Scandalous Slanderous babble !!
Please hold caller while we try to connect you...
"I feel the best way forward would be for you to do it"
"his skillset is more suited to be assistant manager"
"I second guessed it"
"the job wasn't what he wanted it to be"
"he knows where his skillset is"
Enough there for you?
Fair does to Ross for accepting that he feels his skillset lies in coaching .
Its Ross saying that not ling .
Its ross' words that Ling is quoting .

Kent Teague knows nothing about football. Nigel Travis barely knows anything. They entrust Ling to make the footballing decisions. Like it or not, Ling’s opinion would have been the most important factor.

He's not disagreeing though is he? The last quote basically agrees with Ross' own admittance of his shortcomings in the manager role.

I still don’t see why we need a DoF at lower/non-league level. I get why it was useful picking up the pieces after Beelzebub & Co, when we didn’t have a CEO in place, but just seems a waste of money and a confusing, unnecessary layer of mgmt after that 1st year.

Exactly this.
And what the f*ck do you 2 know ?
Alright love, no need for that! It’s just an opinion. The correct one admittedly but still just an opinion.

Im glad you agree my opinion is correct finally
To claim Travis knows nothing about football.
Teague is a huge sports fan , i think he is the type to pick stuff up very quickly , he is very bright .
Unlike some people

What on earth are you talking about?
Obviously the same thing you are , but you have decided to back out .
Good for you.
Lets move on
I've not chosen to do anything, you've said something that has no relevance to this discussion
Just like the entire thread then really
Fletcher is gone .
Move on
Dont hold on to things to long
Move forward & on to the new

Sometimes in life there can be too many people part of decision making, additionally the focus of a simple basic decision of choice gets complicated due to over analysis. I think that what occurred at lofc
All we ever needed was a proven manager
We have a whole set up of others to deal with the growth of the younger players or the enhancement of fringe players
It's very simple allocate the appropriate funds and hire a proven manager
If the existing staff have to change to allow that persons "ethos" or training style or tactics what's the issue - either change or leave just like any job
The club growth to the division above is the priority
To me that simple focus is the way to determine staff new or existing
Couldn't agree more

Never been a fan of Ling particularly as a DoF but for senior players and staff to make complaints about the manager suggests that far more went on behind the scenes than we as fans have any entitlement to know1
I hear a rumor we are talking criticism of achievements past similar to Clough at Leeds that may be balls but ,nevertheless. whatever the reasons well done to the board for not allowing a Steve Davis situation to occur again and well done to Ling for accepting the responsibility of removing his own appointment within such a short timescale.
