Wouldn’t have been a thread if the CEO didn’t mention it in his programme notes yesterday

Link to the full thing. Nice 20% ticket rise for some people next season too.

I hope it isn’t the investors pushing for a new stadium.

I suspect the biggest rices will be in the North Stand to stop the random fans who hardly attend

I don't think the programme notes necessarily made it obligatory to rehash the same posts about Harlow and taking over the archaeological site at the former Leyton FC ground.

Is this around the time when the ground rent was due to be reviewed? If the pension fund hike the rent then it poses difficult questions.

Similarly with the East Stand, T&T would be crazy spending millions on rebuilding it given they don't have claim to the land it sits on.

Just as long as we don't end with the nightmare scenario of sharing the Olympic stadium, that would be the worst outcome on so many levels.

Can't see us moving, not like we could use the sale of the existing ground to offset some of the cost of building a new one.

Who has asked the CEO that question? Why have they asked it?

What a weird phrasing of a question
Much to my annoyance all the programmes were sold out by the time I arrived at the ground at. 2. 30 pm so I didn't get a chance to read that . It's intriguing. Who asked the question and where do they propose ? Could Mark Devlin please give us more details on that ?
The new round of investors, presumably?

The money in modern stadiums seems to be bigger corporate, used during the week for others bits and events, ie boxing, renting it out

Spitalfields site will be available soon. Big enough for stadium and complex.
The cost will be off set with off field business, e.g. restaurant, casino, hotels etc. Opportunities to capture some of the crowd before and after the game to spend money on site.

I think that site has already been sold to property developers.

Interesting.
£198 for an adult ticket, £378 for what sounds like their equivalent of the Legends Lounge.

The Reverend wrote: Sun Mar 05, 2023 8:17 am Not that I think it’s going to happen but if Orient moved to some soulless identikit stadium in Essex which is half empty every week then that’s me finished. I’ve visited plenty of those as an away fan (Colchester United springs to mind) and I always leave feeling grateful that we have a home with character.
Quite right. And i was looking on the Swindon forum yesterday and one of their fans said, ' Orient is one of my favourite away days'. And that made me feel quite proud but it also made me mad to think we are always talking about having to move, something that was totally unnecessary until some bulls--t of a chairman came along. Never mind the likes of that individual Bechetti, but the person that f--ked up Brisbane road as far as any future expansion goes was Barry Hearn. He kicked us fans in the arse and then walked away with his bundle of cash.
I think it's clear lots of away fans enjoy visits to BR, and numbers are usually healthy even for 'nothing' games.

Hearn has left us in a spot here. No room for plausible expansion on any side. He would view it (the flats) as 'covering his losses as a businessman' of course; and unless I'm mistaken he's done nothing illegal.
Has to be taken into account also that *if we get promoted, and struggle in L1, some of the punters that have rocked up this season will disappear. We're full because we're top of the league. It seems unlikely we'll be top of L1. If we're bottom, then gates of 4-5k may become the norm again.

Essex (or Harlow) specifically, always gets mentioned. If Harlow is the destination: that is the End of LOFC. It is then a franchise in the style of MK Dons. It may still be suffixed 'Orient' but Orient is an East London club and it will not be Orient, sadly.

Some will wish to attend the Frankenstein version in Harlow on the pretext that they support 'Orient', but that will be a delusion.
We 'may' pick up some fans from Hertford/Bishops Stortford/Sawbridgeworth (say), but they will also be supporting 'Harlow', not 'Orient'...
Imperative that if we do move, we find a way to stay in East London.

Re build East Stand, to capacity 6500. Do it properly with hospitality and modern facilities. Probably will need to be two tiers. Make it all home fans and give one of the ends for away. Possibly make it possible for a section to be away if needed on a match by match basis. Our capacity would be 12k, enough for L1 and Championship

I remember the south stand was built so an extra tier could go on, but that was pre-flats behind annoyingly.

My recollection, probably flawed, was that the west stand could accommodate a second tier.

Possibly both the South and West. I only remember the South being mentioned but not sure that would be an option with the flats there now.

Neither, The west has maximum number of levels. Decision was made at time of design to include income streams and not seating for the higher levels. As I have posted several times the South could have had a second level but Hearn decided to build more flats behind the stand and although there were foundations for two levels of seating it can’t now be done.

It has. Part of LBWF housing project.
