It probably depends on who is asking, sadly.

I can make the rearranged date so I immediately, (at the end of September), e'mailed the ticket office and asked if I could buy a return as I thought there were likely to be quite a few. I did get an early response which just said there were none available, I'm the last one to criticise our club but I'm afraid I did find this very poor.

Surely the response should have been, 'we'll keep your details and let you know if any become available'.

Anyway, I suppose it'll be a case of mingling with the home supporters and staying quiet!!
The club's credibility with me has been restored in full as I received a phone call this morning offering a returned ticket for the Wimbledon game. That's more like it!!

How did they know to phone you if they didn't retain your details?

This just gets more and more bizarre.

Okay, just to clarify, I e'mailed the club around a month ago asking if I could buy any available returns for the Wimbledon match mentioning I am a season card holder. The club immediately replied just saying there were no tickets available.

After reflecting over the weekend, I thought I'd retry and e'mailed the club again making reference to my original e'mail, it seems some returns have now been received, they've obviously looked up my details and took the trouble to call me.

In the end, a pretty good effort by the club I'd say!!

I guess.

Rather than doing the obvious of putting out a statement advising that tickets can be returned, then selling them publicly through the normal channels, I guess this is a pretty good effort...

I suspect it's been done this way to save work, hoping that those who cannot attend will not think to return tickets for a refund.
