The Charlton chairman is a proper nut job, he won’t spend the money and if you read his last message he has no intentions of doing so, in fact he’s looking to cut costs further. The strike partner will be gone soon with Bonne I suspect the cheap replacement. He can’t sell the club as he wants too much money, last quoted to be £70m plus debt of approx £65m and you can see why there’s no value in buying them. The last lot of buyers dropped out as he refused to sell the Valley or Sparrows Lane as part of the deal! Like I said he’s mental.

Seems a strange move given that Bowyer has just left Charlton over money wrangles.
He must have had discussions with Bowyer and the manager has upped and left on the day he signed.
Got a feeling they have a director of football too and given the anarchy over there only god and Bowyer know if he had anything to do with Bonne's signing - but you would have thought so.....

Going from National League level to Championship level is one hell of a step up . I think Boarders who have said he's gone out of his depth could be proven correct

Yeah! No way! He has just got Charlton promoted to the championship with no money and a nutty chairman. We can do so much better! (Not that he is coming here anyway)

I remember lots of people screaming when we sold Moses to Brentford saying we sold him on the cheap

Hes walking from a club with success and stability and into a madhouse. The manager has quit, they only had 10 professionals in the whole club before he signed, the owner wants out, but wants too much money so can't sell. The fans say more players will be leaving as they cost too much money, are too good and others want them, plus they want out of the madhouse.

I don't know why people let dohy get to them. He's either properly thick or on a constant wind up; whichever it is, it's not worth getting dragged into anything with him
If people continue to slag doh off he is going to.respond in kind.
As i have found out , you give the bloke a chance & hell reapond to how you treat him.
He's said it enough times.
Yeah he can be narky now & then but tell me one person on this board who isnt .
Most people are the same ,

Macca's transfer was reported in today's Sun newspaper so it appears it was no secret.

Sounds like McCauley is going to be in for a tough season, on and off the pitch.

It was kind of inevitable, but still a really big blow. It’s clear from Mac’s statement that he was approached during the last transfer window, but chose to stay and finish the job with us, and I’m very grateful for that.
We can’t blame him one bit, he’s been great for us over the last two seasons, and I hope it works out for him.
Thanks Mac, the best natural goalscorer we’ve had down here in years.

The deal was done last Tuesday from what I'm reading on Charlton life as the pictures were certainly taken then as someone was there!!
Seems like a pretty sh*tty and insensitive thing to do at that time, but I guess football waits for no one. Not happy about that now I know that.

Bit surprised by this move and the level of fee involved. Stepping up to The Championship is a big move for him and it wouldn’t shock me to see him out on loan somewhere before the end of next season. Hope I’m wrong and I wish him the best - we owe him a lot.

Not sure what's wrong if he has a release clause that was activated. I did think this was wrapped up last week and fair play if the announcement was deliberately delayed to today.

200k is the rumour, no part of the deal has been revealed.

Is the consensus on here that Macca's performance last season wasn't quite what it was in his first season because he didn't get the rub of the green or because his performances weren't quite as good?
