I have been watching the Os for 50 years and am happy with the way things are being run at the moment, we as a club are moving steadily in an upward direction again and this close season will probably pan out much the same as many of the previous 49. The club only released its retained list two weeks ago, re engaged three top players who were out of contract in week one and have many of the staff who worked tirelessly last season on holiday as are the majority of players looking for clubs no doubt.. what part of that is resting on its laurels?
Players will come in, obviously not as quickly as you want and they probably won't be good enough in your opinion either but The club is getting most things right so I'll wait and trust them to do what's best when it's possible.
I wouldn't say you are showing any more ambition than most other Os fans, just more impatience tbh.
I’v Been watching the 0’s for over 60 years and am over the moon that we got promoted.
But we are a very long way to go to get us back where I believe we belong in the Championship.
We need to be the first to make the quality signings needed, not being the ones to pick up the crumbs from the rich mans table.
Clearly the 10 years difference in watching the O’s gives us different perspectives.
I want to see the O’s back in the Championship where I believe we belong before I pop my clogs.

When the mind-blowing signings get announced, watch these figures skyrocket.
To be honest I think a lot of people will be waiting to see how serious the club are and will hold off getting a season ticket till they see clear evidence of ambition by making quality signings.
Obviously, if we can make two or three good signings that will definitely help season ticket sales .

I still reckon the vast majority of fans will have purchased already. There will be some of us holding off for financial reasons and will renew closer to the deadline but not many.
I doubt there are many, if any, undecided or waiting to see what we do in the transfer market.
This.
We will be up about the same level of sales if we are lucky, last year was an exceptional effort to to get over 4000 sold, I would imagine we have a couple of thousand or so who can't commit to coming every home game who can't or don't want to buy a season ticket who contribute to the gate on a regular/ semi regular basis.
I agree there will only be a fickle few waiting to see what happens with transfers they will be the same ones disappointed year in year out by our signings who will never be good enough for them. It's almost like some people couldn't wait for last season to end so they start to pick holes in club strategy again as quite a few did last season.
For me personally, I started watching the O’s when we were in the old second division (now championship) and want to see us where I believe we truly belong back in the Championship and will not be happy to we get back there.
Forgive me for having ambition but that is what is needed, not resting on our laurels!
You are living in a dream world if you think Orient can survive for any length of time in the Championship.
Unlike 40 years ago we now have a ground capacity of under 10000, unless there is a Bournemouth level of investment, we will be lucky to survive one season.
Rotherham,Colchester,Southend ,Burton, Peterborough and several others have gone up only to be nothing more than whipping boys.

Do you think Teague has invested millions of pounds to oversee a L1 club? I don’t.
Have a word with yourselves.

You’re disputing Kent (and Nigel) have each pumped millions into buying and running the club already? Really?
What are you on?

I think millions might be stretching it a bit.
But yes, the owners have done a superb job but I have the feeling if you think Kent is is going to be a mug and throw his personal wealth into a football club Bournemouth style you are going to be disappointed.
Our level is L1. Stop being daft thinking we can compete in the Championship against huge clubs. Them days are gone.

Really?
They spent a reported £4 - 5 million just to take the club off bechetti. That’s £2 mil each.
They then spent £1.25m each to cover the £2.5m loss from our first year of trading to 30/6/18.
They have then forecast to spend another £1 mil each to cover our £2 mil loss to £30/6/19.
So that’s an estimated £4 - 5 million EACH to date....

Blimey, 4/5 million to buy the club?
That’s more than what Fb paid for it when we were L1 and had a good team and a bank account.

Do you seriously think this fella is going to finance Orient in the Championship?
We only bought in two players in the previous close season and I can see the same again.
I suspect if we have lost this much, then there will be some serious belt tightening in the next season or two, and we will probably tread water in L2.
Bit like in the early BH years.

I think there has been some serious work done on the commercial aspect of the club to bolster finances and serious effort put into developing season ticket sales. Income from the leagues too increases as we go higher. Despite this I have little doubt we will continue to lose money every year and should we reach the Championship losses are likely to be significant. I doubt Teague and Travis could sustain this indefinitely.
I would love us to get back to the Championship but I doubt we have a ground of sufficient capacity to sustain this level nor owners who can contually foot the bill. Our level will be league 1 unless the club can recruit another backer, which is not impossible to see.

How many weeks into the season will it be when poundhill first mentions returning his season ticket? I'm going for 4.

Hearn pumped money in during his early years. That led to him selling off everything he could to himself to get that return and profit back.

The difference between Hearn and the current regime is that Hearn never had any intention of losing a single penny on us. His plan included making a profit out of the O’s from day one, and he did, you can be sure of that.

Agree 100%.
The trouble is with certain football fans is they are deluded.
It would cost millions in the modern game to compete in the Championship.
I know Brentford have done Ok, but they have had some serious investment and also own their own ground which will help financing the new one.
I believe their wage bill in 2013/14 was 2.5 times ours, which shows what a greet job RS did.

Not too sure about that.
When Barry bought the club it had no assets and was losing money hand over fist with a dump of a ground.I would argue the fiver he paid was too much.
It’s one hell of a asset stripper who takes 18 years of s—- to get a return.
He could have stuck his money in a global investment tracker fund and made a shed load over that time.
The fact is that that Barry loaned the club millions over the years and claimed it back at the end. I suppose you think he should have wrote it off?

Well you seem to think the Championship is the end game and Kent has got millions to throw at it to achieve it.
I think you are going to be disappointed.
I believe the club will be run on a similar line to when Tony Wood and Barry Hearn were in charge.
Top six wage bill while we are in L2 and a top half wage bill when in L1.
With decent management from top to bottom, we should achieve that within the next three years.
Steady growth, that is the game.

You think Hearn stuck around for 18 years out of his love for Leyton Orient? Even his bulls----ing couldn't work that quick in turning our ground into a housing estate. Don't give me all that cock and bull about 'getting his money back'. He skinned us for all he could get his grubby mits on.

Have a look at the accounts.
5 m was owed to Matchroom.
Do you honestly think that Orient could run at a profit as a full time league club on gates of 4000?
Bizarre.

No, I dont know why Teague is here or what his plan is.
But I’m pretty sure it isn’t to run a loss making/break even, mid table, average L1 team.

Not sure what you’re actually disputing. Barry has taken ownership of the ground from the club and made one hell of a profit in the process. Even getting out of his promise to return 50% of any profit on the sale of the land in the process.
