" Wedge " used during the Open golf championship
But those examples of the supposed "non randomness" of the answers ONLY work once you know the word and then link it back to the ongoing event, don't they?

During Partygate - the word could have been drink, or snack, or group, or c<unt or any one of a huge number of words that might relate to a party in No 10. Similarly, during the Open, why wasn't the word picked drive, or green, or caddy, or stand or any other of the thousands of 5 letter words that could relate to golf? (one might also argue that Wedge is a more obscure link to the Open than the examples I've given). And, Partygate and the Open were hardly the only things happening at those times were they?

The words are randomly drawn from a set list of about 2,500 words that Wardle created.
I only said it was wedge after id guessed it. my 1st choice was GENRE & nothing to do with golf

using the g in the wrong place & the 2 E's i chose Hedge as my 2nd guess .

It was a pretty simple guess to get it right from there

I wouldn't pick Genre as 1st guess. It's only got one vowel in it, and only excludes 3 consonants if wrong. I'd have thought the better strategy is to use the same word each day - and use that to exclude or confirm as many consonants as possible.

I use FLASK (which often has no correct letters). That way, excluding the K also knocks out all the words that end CK, for example. Excluding the S also takes out all the words with combination of TS and ST and all the multiples with S at the end. I'd always use the same start word - I can't see a single advantage to changing start word, given the target words are random.

StillSpike wrote: Thu Aug 04, 2022 11:31 am Here's the last 3 correct words and links to prove they are NOT random

AUG 03 - #410 - YOUTH - Commonwealth Games is on and competitors in that tend to be quite young
AUG 02 - #409 - COYLY - Love Island ended recently
AUG 01 - #408 - QUART - I went to the pub the other day and had only 2 pints.

See how easy it is?
Not really picking youth for commonwealth games , when was Love island on & why only 2 beers? waist of a mouth that statement

The double letters & singular vowels were a bit of a run
If you remember
Surely picking the same word especially the 1 you are proves its not the way to go .
The object is to guess the letters & not discount them.

Picking a random word , preferably with some of the 10 most commonly used letters is the way to go

Simply amazing skill again, choosing the same vowel twice in an opening word is genius level wording.
Deuce hedge wedge . lucky me . sorry for the spoiler but calling me out twice is not acceptable !

Did you use genre on your first go?

This is like when the kids swear blind they haven't swapped the stickers on the rubiks cube, even though they're wonky as f***.

why would you pull stickers off ?
Far easier to pry 1 of the blocks out
releasing the tension of the others .

Any chance of you posting your total stats, tuffers? Or did you have to clear your history recently for an entirely unrelated reason?

If anyone else can be arsed to do it I'll check my sums.

It saves automatically tuffers, you know that thing that pops up every time you complete a game and if you go onto the site before a new game is ready. You can get it now just by going to the website.
