"by the end of the month" well that's OK then. Not as if there's any need to rush here is there. I'm sure the virus will take a breather for a couple of weeks to allow the government to sort itself out.
How do you suggest he could speed up its passage into law?
Other Countries have declared a state of Emergency or a state of War which enables them to take immediate actions.

Interesting, so you support enacting the provisions within the Civil Contingencies Act to give Boris carte blanche to amend legislation at a whim? Without consulting parliament or opposition.

Haha - in the circumstances we now face do you believe that debating policy in Parliament and thus delaying actions by weeks is the correct option?

Anyone else catch PMQs?

Interesting that UBI is being considered. Also, Theresa May asked about an exit strategy. Johnson's lack of response suggests that nobody is seriously planning that far ahead yet.

Wife's college (in Scotchland) closing on Friday - all face to face teaching stopped from tonight. Everything going online and everyone working from home (quite how a theatre lighting technician can work from home ..... well we'll cross that bridge when we come to it)

And following WHO guidelines to test as much as possible. Why don't we do the same? I really don't understand why and I've never seen a clear explanation from the government.

Looks like Italy is the guinea pig for how not to deal with the initial stages. I’ve no idea what they did wrong but it’s biting them on the arse now.

As for Asia, my kid lives in Saigon and as his school made them take their summer holiday over the last two weeks he went off to Langkawi in Malaysia. He’s now stuck there with a girl friend he met three weeks ago because the Malaysian govt has put the entire county into lockdown. They had to deal with SARS and MURS back in the early 00’s, and they’re taking this very seriously indeed.

He says by the end of this they’ll either have killed each other or got married :)

I have a theory of why Italy maybe getting hammered.

The worlds biggest Mens fashion show takes place twice a year in Italy
Its called Pitti Uomo , it runs in early January & late july every year.

The.worlds biggest market for top end Fashion is now China .
All the Worlds ( Italian houses ) leading fashion houses al have offices showrooms in
Milan , most of there factories are based in Northern italy Bergamo Bologna & so on .

The disease hit China probably in December & would have had time to spread .
As hundreds possibly thousands of Chinese buyers would have been in Northern Italy
It is easy to see why it may have taken hold there .

I am not saying this is the reason , but it could well be connected.

These are launches by houses to the world of last years seasons orders.
In other words 2020 fashions.

Piti Uomo happend on around the 7th-10th of January & is in house only for retailers
& is for 2021 season Where buyers are placing orders viewing sample merchandise
For nxt year.

Coronovirus didnt start ploughing through Wuhan/China untill mid to late January.
So I still think it was possible.

I keep hearing people saying
Coronavirus will go away in Summer months.

Personally I think this is wrong.
Previous pandemics didn’t follow weather patterns plus as we enter summer, there will be winter in the Southern Hemisphere. Virus is global.

Just my opinion
