Re: That Corner Routine
It was pathetic. The board for added time hadn't even gone up.
Just put the corner across, score a 2nd, game over.

Re: That Corner Routine
As soon as that Macca break got started in the 91st minute, I turned to my son and said "here it comes", I wasn't best pleased.

Re: That Corner Routine
We’d already had 4 corners from which we didn’t score, why are you so confident this one would have been a goal?Tom Chance wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 8:12 pmIt was pathetic. The board for added time hadn't even gone up.

Re: That Corner Routine
That was pathetic . We had the momentum to go on and score and second goal . Only one person to blame for that and as much as I like Ross , he has to learn quickly .

Re: That Corner Routine
Shocking and negative to try and waste time and it’s tactic I really dislike whether it’s Orient or any other team doing it.
We badly came unstuck and just about summed up what was an awful game.

Re: That Corner Routine
Always ends up with the opposition getting possession. Just ask yourself this question, would you sooner concede a corner in the dying minutes or gain one. Negativity cost us 2 points.

Re: That Corner Routine
Statistically corners are a low percentage opportunity to score. Think it's something like 1 goal in just under every 20 corners (source: The Numbers Game).LeighO wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 8:40 pmWe’d already had 4 corners from which we didn’t score, why are you so confident this one would have been a goal?Tom Chance wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 8:12 pmIt was pathetic. I'm surprised it's as low as 1 in 20.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 9:10 pmStatistically corners are a low percentage opportunity to score. Maybe we should bang all our corners back to the keeper and start the tedious sideways/backwards build up again then.

Re: That Corner Routine
For 10/15 mins before their goal they were putting us under a decent amount of pressure. What it left was space in between their defence and midfield and there was masses of it for us to play into and through, not once did we do so. Instead of using that to our advantage we tried to manage the game out which is always dangerous and ultimately we paid the price. It nearly cost us in the first game against Cheltenham when they were down to 9 men after 72 mins, seems we never learnt from that game as we tried to waste time with ten to play then.Chicken Dhansak wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 8:20 pm As soon as that Macca break got started in the 91st minute, I turned to my son and said "here it comes", I wasn't best pleased.

Re: That Corner Routine
it's the same reduced expectations that come from the limited minds running the football side. And those who stick up for Embleton & Ling are complicit.
It's clear that Embleton doesn't have much confidence in himself, and the players certainly don't have much in him. I can't blame any of them for feeling that way - the buck stops with Ling here, as he has pushed someone forward who plainly isn't ready - largely because he thought that would protect his own position.

Re: That Corner Routine
Probablly not given our game is a tiny sample and depending on what happened elsewhere. Four goals all from corners or four goals from 11 corners will be an outlier. Maybe moves the needle by something like 0.1%Tom Chance wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2020 8:35 pmWell that's f*cked their stats up today.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 9:10 pmStatistically corners are a low percentage opportunity to score. Re: That Corner Routine
Another issue our head coach can't fathom - our total inability to defend corners... everyone has known this for months but he doesn't seem to have been able to come up with a strategy that works yet. Still at least we're safe so no rush...

Yes, we're safe but I didn't say Ross doesn't have anything to sort out because he does .LeytonOstone wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2020 9:00 pm Another issue our head coach can't fathom - our total inability to defend corners... everyone has known this for months but he doesn't seem to have been able to come up with a strategy that works yet.
