Oldham Athletic
Looks like they are going to be kicked out of their own ground as they near administration.
When I created the Danny macklin thread as I felt he makes so many valid points, I never thought that I or someone else would be talking about such a matter now, literally an hour later.
They owe £170K in overdue rent. On top of this they owe a further £330K in unpaid loans. Both amounts are owed to the grounds freeholder and former director Danny Gazal. Interest of £5k is being charged on half that amount and he is now talking to administrators about their appointment so he can recover what is owed to him. The nuclear option is the repossession of the ground.
If administration is forced upon Oldham they would be deducted 12 points and would therefore drop to bottom of the league.

Re: Oldham Athletic
Apparently they are losing over a million a year as well. Scholes did allude to something at the time he quit.

Re: Oldham Athletic
Accrington Stanley went out of business for a much smaller amount. Their debts were circa 62,000 in total. Admittedly it was a different era., but I would guess the full extent of Oldham's debts to be far more than £500k
Indeed their most recent filed accounts to June 2018 show creditors of £8 million

Re: Oldham Athletic
Meanwhile, just a few miles away Manchester United fans are “protesting” against their board because they’ve only spend hundreds of millions of pounds.
I have a lot of respect for those who support smaller teams around Manchester (Oldham, Bury, Rochdale, Stockport etc).

Re: Oldham Athletic
That's what I thought, surely they would be able to avoid this or am I missing something here

Re: Oldham Athletic
Of course the debts are way in excess of the £500k dispute, but that particular creditor is the one wanting to enforce his rights. The rest will fall into line as part of the administration if it were to happen and he asks the courts to allow one to be appointed.

Re: Oldham Athletic
I have seen this sentiment expressed elsewhere a few times.
Most clubs that fall on hard times are treated sympathetically by the supporters of other clubs.
Genuinely interested why this doesn't seem to extend to Bury, have they been less than gracious in the past?
Thanks

Re: Oldham Athletic
The northwest and Manchester area really is a case of the have and the have nots.
Smaller clubs in Greater Manchester really struggle these days for decent support in numbers and ownership.
Sad.

Re: Oldham Athletic
Done a few visits to Oldham, and have always had a minor soft spot for them since I discovered they marketed an Oldham Athletic steering-wheel cover.
Sadly, it seems the product hasn't taken off sufficiently to keep the wolf from the door.

It seems a little bit more than just debt
More like a control of power battle between 2 chairmen/owners of the club.

Re: Oldham Athletic
It’s horrible to say this but the way our results are currently going, Oldham being deducted points would be quite welcome .
