Re: Cisse
Most people had his card marked straight away.
I’m struggling to think of one player who was widely acclaimed after a couple of appearances and then went on to be rubbish?

Re: Cisse
I hear ya. But he also has a track record too. I'd have been happy if we signed him permanently prior to us signing him on loan. If we only wait to see how a player performs over several games we'd never sign anyone permanently without them being on loan to us first.Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 11:00 pmYes, me too. Re: Cisse
He didn’t want to sign permanently as he believes he can play at a higher level and this exposure may allow that to happen or it allows him to see if he likes it here and if we have the stated and backed ambition to go higher.

Re: Cisse
There is a case for saying that when a team is so lacking in particular skills, when a player comes in and supplies them, he looks great.
Adam Reed/Luke Summerfield come to mind as having good loan spells (ironically as the defensive midfielder type), perhaps Nicky Adams as well but their careers since then suggests they wouldn't have been top players for us in League One.
But we've been lacking in this area for ages. Who would have thought that adding a bit more ability with a physical presence in the midfield would deliver a big improvement in the side? Almost every fan has said that this was our weakest area.
Don't think he is an essential signing after one game (don't we have 10 others on this list to check out as well?) but in what is left of this window I would see if there is a way to get a younger player in on loan who has a similar skillset and could compete to dislodge Clay or Wright. If Cisse got injured we might be back to square one.

Really we’re still on square one because he’s only on loan

Did very well I thought, but it's early days.
Definitely the type of player we have needed all season though. Amazed that fans could see this from day one, but it's taken until nearly Feb for the penny to drop with the professionals within the club.

Re: Cisse
I think people within the club probably knew it, George Marsh was probably seen as the answer but didn't get starts in the beginning & then you have a 4 month wait to do something because of the transfer window. Windows might work for the big clubs, but it doesn't help smaller clubs who might need to strengthen or cash in on a player to pay the bills.Scuba Diver wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 11:55 am Did very well I thought, but it's early days.
