First Concert you went to?

Post by Thor »

It’s interesting the many bands you’d have liked to have seen when you were a kid, but were not allowed to go to. So what was the first actual concert you went to?

Mine was to see Simple Minds on the Once Upon a time tour in 1986

Tonight as part of both mine and my youngest sons birthday (both in November) I am taking him to his first concert to see Liam Gallagher at the O2. The son is not following the dad either, I was surprised that he liked his music to be honest and tonight is gonna be awesome. So that’s a first right there as well.

Let’s see what your first concert was.

I've been before and I am going tonight and the crowd are much younger than that. There is a new generation that never saw Oasis, but love it.

Blue Oyster Cult supported by John (Mellencamp) Cougar Feb 1978 in Le Havre, France where the ship I was sailing on was docked. Fantastic.

Was that at Earl's court or somewhere like that? Was the Rock Steady Crew playing as well?

That's what my wife said! However, I took my elder son to see him at Ally Pally a couple of years ago and I said to him that night that there was a load of very young lads there like him.

I have very good seats (by luck) as he's too young to stand on the floor so it should be ok from that perspective. At least he's not going to get pushed around etc.

This is a tough one but I reckon it was Hawkwind at the Roundhouse, Dagenham in 1072. No Lemmy or Silver Machine yet but Stacia was a sight to behold.

I think it was The Pogues in or around 1988 at the old Town & Country Club in Kentish Town. Absolute carnage. Crowd surged the bars and ripped out the spirit bottles, which were then passed around for everyone to take a swig. There as blood, piss, vomit and medical emergencies. And that's before the band came on stage.
