Worst result in our history?
It has to be, doesn’t it?
I can remember a fair few cup upsets in my time but never by someone that far down the pyramid.
Did we draw away at Hendon then lose the replay at home one year? That must be close but that’s it.

Re: Worst result in our history?
It’s a 4 division gap but not sure we qualify as City or Liverpool of this division at the moment.Howling Mad Murdock wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2019 4:59 pm It must be like Liverpool or Man City losing to a non league team?
Maybe like a Spurs losing to a non league side. At home.

Yes , you remembered correctly . We got a draw at their place then they beat us at home . Today's result though is even worse.

Re: Worst result in our history?
I know we've been historically crap but never known us losing to amateur football levels of crap. Considering level of opposition I can't think of a worse result.
Re: Worst result in our history?
Going on pure betting odds it isn't a massive upset.... I think Man City losing at home to West Ham would be bigger odds.
Looking at the teams in their division, I would say I don't think there has been a bigger upset, they would be worse than the teams in the London Senior Trophy thing.

Re: Worst result in our history?
When someone posted the odds of 12/1 straight away I thought if only I was a betting man, I’d have backed them at those levels, not cos of the return, but because I have zero confidence in fletch, if you check the prediction thread I said 2-1 to them. I didn’t bet and I am truly gutted we lost, shame the manager doesn’t show the same amount of care as we fans do.

Re: Worst result in our history?
I seem to recall the Hendon team turned up on the tube because the north circular was not moving.
That was a shocker but I’m pretty sure they were at a higher level than T&M.

Thing is: we needed a cup run. Badly, given the bad run of results in the league. Fletcher does not come across as somebody who would fire me up.

Re: Worst result in our history?
That and the money. Needed a good run and a glamour tie to boost the coffers for squad strengthening in January. More likely need to sell now to cover the losses instead.Give it to Jabo wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2019 5:26 pm Thing is: we needed a cup run. Badly, given the bad run of results in the league. Re: Worst result in our history?
The Hendon replay loss in 97 was against an Isthmian Prem side when that league sat immediately below The Conference - so only a 2 division gap at the time. Think we’ve played a couple of clubs 4 steps down before in the Cup...but not lost.

Re: Worst result in our history?
I think all of this is ignoring the fact that M&T played bloody well. They were organised, had a plan and played neat passing football, none of yer hoofing it up front nonsense. Yes we were crap but that doesn’t detract from how well M&T played.

Re: Worst result in our history?
It took us 3 games plus extra time to lose to Enfield
Got to be worse as it took so f*cking long & cost 3 times as much

Stowaway , you are spot on, they didn’t kick their way to victory, they attacked with pace driving at us and fully deserved their win . Their forwards interchanged and were much more mobile than ours.

It's nearly as bad as Brexit and that's saying something, or Boris as PM or Don the Con as leader of the free world. World's away mad.
Embarrassing.

Worst in our history. Well Fletcher has been here 5 minutes and already in our record books. Wow. What a guy.

It's Ok, I misread your post . I read it as " I can think of a worse one ". My apologies.
