I'm very pleased with the 3 points but I have to agree Blackpool did look the better side . In my opinion their number 11 , Josh Bowyer looked the best player on the pitch . Does anybody know why every time Bowyer touched the ball our fans were booing him . I'm just curious, do we have any history with this player .Also I think the way we were set up today made us harder to break down but somewhat nullified our attacking threat . We've played better this season at home and lost so all I care about is we won . Also I thought Akhamrich and Kabia looked poor today and didn't really influence the game . However I thought Dobra and Wellens looked good when they came on .
For those not at the game, Bowyer was booked for diving in the Orient penalty box in the first half, and accordingly booed every time he got the ball after that. Was indeed the best player on the pitch first half though.
Thought Morris did ok to limit his output.
Thought Morris was back to almost his best today. Made good decisions, committed and aggressive

Agree, thought he looked up for it, and seemed much more comfortable getting forward than Fin was on the other side.

If we're going to continue with five at the back, we will need both to provide the width we lacked in attack.

I agree. Great to see him back in the fold, and playing like we saw him last season.

Wrong analysis.

We played with wing backs, both Yusuf and Alan played narrow. Those crosses came in because they were overloading the wide areas (because we didn't have wingers supporting the wing backs).

We did at least try to put Yusuf out wide by inverting Stevens after a bit in the first half.
If that's how you saw it fine, we saw it differently. Connolly was wide in the first half Yusuf was too to start with but ineffective and got pulled inside midway through the first half, Yusuf and Connolly are never going to double up with our full backs no matter what the formation.

Outstanding shift from the defensive unit, Forrester and Stevens the pick of the bunch yet again.

Literally no idea how Competition Winner got on the bench and got some minutes once more. Laughable contribution from him yet again. Can you imagine being Clare or Theo or Mitchell or Oyekunle or (is that it?) stuck at home for that?
I'll say one thing for you Hoover , you're bloody consistent . In fact when Charlie came on I thought he improved us and made us more of an attacking threat.

Their corners were especially bad.

All in all a pretty poor match. A win is a win but we saw two teams who will be lucky to hit mid-table this season.
Totally agree thought Blackpool were 2nd best
all over the park and Os looked comfortable winners ..

No, it’s not opinion, it’s fact. We started with Yusef and Aaron as two tens, playing narrow behind Kabia. Yusef basically didn’t touch the ball for the first twenty mins and went wide where he got a bit more of the ball albeit being doubled up on and shown outside. Connolly drifted wider a few times but stayed relatively central.

Did We ?
Dave Victor & his sidekick kept saying Connolly is playing wide & Yusuf was more inside & got swapped out as he was ineffective !

Well have to agree to disagree on that then 😉

Harsh on Yusuf and Alan. The suggestion they won’t double up with our full backs implies they’re not prepared to graft and track back, which isn’t the case. They both got through loads of running without the ball today.

I remember him doing one bit of skill where he kind of beat a player but then lost the ball to a second player ( and Iddy had to pick up a yellow to stop them breaking on transition) but other than that, can’t remember one positive thing in possession.

Remember him running around a bit out of possession but don’t recall a single tackle or turn over.

I actually think you're all wrong in terms of the formation. It looked to me like it was a 5 2 1 2, with Connolly and Kabia through the middle and Akhamrich as a 10. Connolly drifted wide left and Akhamrich wide right.

More 5-2-2-1. But who cares, it didn't really work for us.

If we're sticking with back five (and I think we should), I think we need to go 5-3-1-1 - Scarlett up top, Connolly playing just behind him, with license to drift around.

For the midfield three, ideally would be El Miz, Gilbert, Hayden. If Hayden out, Clare could do a job, or if want to go a bit more attacking/creative, would like to see Dobra or OON (when he's back/fit). Inevitably, will end up being Wellens though.

Akhamrich would do better as an impact sub when the opposition are tiring.

I went yesterday & was very pleased with the win & clean sheet. I thought that Pool deserved to get something from the game.
Our defence was good & were under a fair amount of pressure at several points in the game.
I liked Stevens & Gilbert.
I thought Morris did ok but wasn't he leaving Mr dive in the penalty box with too much space?
Hayden for me was off the pace.
Connolly obviously not match fit yet.
Kabia ran himself into the ground. I don't think he will score lots of goals.
Scarlett looked good & I believe will do well here.
So hopefully onwards & upwards.

Like most of our performances this season ( and last if you like), awful and not pretty to watch. Makes you wonder where we are supposed to be going.

As it's the exiles thread and most of us are abroad, I thought you might like to know that someone gifted us a tub of Cornish clotted cream and I'm scoffing it now with fresh baked scones and strawberry jam. Jealous enough yet or should I describe it some more?
