Have we not played
3-4-2-1
4-1-41
5-3-2
4-2-3-1
4-3-3
Never consistently and, even if we have notionally played those formations, in reality they're often just slight variations on 4-2-3-1 or 3-5-2/5-3-2 due to the personnel on the field being played out-of-position.
The patterns of play (i.e. horseshoe of death) and offensive/defensive shapes rarely change.
The horseshoe of death
So we do play with a plan b or c or d

Torn on this one. He does have a good record and we are 10th and a couple of wins and we could be right up there again.
But, despite the signing of some great players we are just so predictable. He is a bit of a plonker as well.

The present position of 11th is bang on exactly where I expect the club the end up this season. Provided there's a W here and there to balance out the poor results the show will go on
Interesting that our only home win this season did not involve our 25, either starting or from the bench. That leap to actually starting the next game does seem counter intuitive. Just saying.
I saw the reasoning behind him playing last season, but after a summer of recruitment it is mind boggling that C Wellens is still getting in the squad, let alone starting.
He is physically completely out of his depth. He can't run, jump or compete in any way. Seeing him knock the ball past Alex Mitchell, not blessed with great pace, and then giving up on it because he knew he had no chance was infuriating. Equally so is seeing him jump for headers with absolutely no intention of getting near the ball, because he knows he can't get it.
I will give R Wellens the benefit of the doubt in that Hayden had been away, and Clare was away too. If he is starting over either of them, or Dobra at Bradford, I will be severely disappointed. It is getting to a stage when it is calling into question his whole judgement.

Pretty sure Wellens Junior wasn't the only one who gave up when that tbug was near him

Nothing thuggish about him, just a good, strong defender at league 1 level. Wellens gave up because he insufficient running power at this level.

I see him doing this all the time - pulling out of any challenge that is 50/50, jumping for balls but not even trying to actually head it - I don't know if he's scared of getting injured or what but he's so un-combative and un-physical - completely the opposite of what Richie says he wants from his players. Really weird.

And so unlike his dad. Was interesting that Richie described Alfie as a player who likes getting involved and battling.
Charlie’s he’s own man, fair enough but if he had an ounce of aggression he might actually have some value

I'm willing to be charitable and say he knows he has no chance, so the best he thinks he's can do is jump in the hope it puts the opponent off.

Much like Springett then
I've not been hugely impressed by Springett this season so far, but he is more robust that Wellens.

It’s definitely this and I have no problem with that. If you know you cant out jump someone, staying on the ground and pushing them off balance is perfectly valid.
But yeah, it’s pretty unedifying seeing him waddle around the pitch.
