Re: Wheres Richie
When any manager picks his own son for a side, then questions about bias are perfectly legitimate, and not just when there's evidence to suggest that the manager's judgement is contributing to poor results. And a home win against Stevenage doesn't change that.

I offer no comment on the facebook supporters group or twitter, haven't seen either.
So you can say WJ1 isn’t good enough to play L1 football, but you can’t mention he’s Richie’s son?

Give it a rest mate. Your continued focus with CW’s inclusion in the squad / team is bordering on obsession. You can be critical of his performances when he has played of course but you regularly go beyond normal levels any other player would receive. The stupid nick names, leaving him out of player ratings, refusing to acknowledge any positive contributions he may make no matter what. You did exactly the same thing with Sam Ling.Hoover Attack wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 7:16 amAdz wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 5:07 amMate, your whole nepo shtick is personal abuse. Look at Gilbert’s performance yesterday. That’s what a proper L1 no 10 looks like….

Re: Wheres Richie
By and large the fans have stuck with Wellens despite the last 12 months being dismal. The fact we're 'little Leyton Orient' has probably played in his favour, as a bigger club probably wouldn't have stood for 6 months without a home win. He still gets his name sung every week and I haven't heard anyone demanding he goes at games.
If he thinks it's alright to chuck pelters at players in public, don't think it's mad to expect him to get a few when the team had been playing so badly for so long. And if he's not happy with his son getting criticism for not being a good footballer, then that is precisely why we never should have signed him.

Re: Wheres Richie
Gilbert is better than CW. He has extensive experience at Championship and top of L1 so that’s not surprising.
The bigger question is who else has been consistently better than CW in that role: Koroma? Bakinson? O’Neill (if ever fit)? Even Dobra has struggled there and looks better out wide. The only player since Donley to do well for us there has been Connolly. When CW has played he hasn’t kept any superstars out of the team, he’s outperformed others paid more than him.

A definite marketing opportunity for the club to put together a fun "Where's Richie?" Wally/Waldo style book in time for Christmas.

Re: Wheres Richie
We all know how football works, and if you've been employed in it for a while you understand this even better. If you do well, you get ridiculously over-praised, like you've solved world hunger or cured cancer. If you do badly, you get slated like you're personally responsible for those things instead. That's how it's been for as long as I've been watching. Anyone who can't accept that can't really maintain a career in football. I'd be amazed if Richie's avoiding publicity because he's suddenly become too sensitive to cope with the bog standard praise / blame routines in football. That doesn't make sense.

Richie is known for throwing tantrums. PT said he was in the dressing room speaking to the players, sounds bo110x, he’s got two weeks to do that.

Surely you all know his character by now ? He's just having a sulk because his managerial career is not going as he thinks it ought to - that's all.

Re: Wheres Richie
Was thinking something similar reading this thread. If he wants to realise his ambitions of managing at the highest level RW will need to deal with far worse than the fairly tame fanbase at Orient. Can you imagine him reacting to a Mark Goldbridge esque livestream rant?Mistadobalina wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 8:49 am las a bigger club probably wouldn't have stood for 6 months without a home win

Re: Wheres Richie
Things do not seem right.
(1) He went down the tunnel straight after the game
(2) No interview before or after the game
(3) Always goes over to the fans after the game
(4) At the last game a so called fan had a go at him during the game near the dugout
(5) Facebook and Forum having a go at his son
(6) Nigel is over here.
Is that enough evidence to say he could be leaving.?

I’ ve posted before that a players dad being the Manager is not a great situation unless said player is head and shoulder above the rest.Dunners wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 7:01 am When any manager picks his own son for a side, then questions about bias are perfectly legitimate, and not just when there's evidence to suggest that the manager's judgement is contributing to poor results. It’s unfair on all concerned and puts in this case, Charlie under pressure.
Think back to when Sam Ling played and played well, some fans still claimed nepotism.

Like Proust's madeleine, every time this sort of thing comes up I recall Kevin Nolan at a Meet the Manager Evening: when asked whether fans abuse was affecting performances he laughed out loud and said Orient was the nicest most polite club he'd ever been at.

Re: Wheres Richie
This is bang on. If Wellens is genuinely having a strop and refusing to do basic parts of his job just because of a few unflattering comments on Facebook then he wouldn’t last 5 minutes at a bigger club.CharlieO wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 10:52 am Like Proust's madeleine, every time this sort of thing comes up I recall Kevin Nolan at a Meet the Manager Evening: when asked whether fans abuse was affecting performances he laughed out loud and said Orient was the nicest most polite club he'd ever been at.
