Stupid rule
In the first half that fanny who used to play for Salford wiped out Kabia off the ball and properly hurt him. Looked like his knee.
Kabia has to have treatment and then gets ordered off the pitch. Ref then took ages to let him back on.
How exactly is it fair that a team gets a player taken out, then has to play at a disadvantage with a player down?

Re: Stupid rule
It’s not. But it has stopped lots of rolling around and time wasting. As has the timer on throw ins. I guess it’s a case of the greater good. There were a few moments where Kabila nearly nicked the ball off a slightly ageing Pergianni today as the last man. Just glad he didn’t score against us again.

Re: Stupid rule
Personally I think the timer on throw ins has made next to little difference. All the time wasting is done before the ball is in hand. Not hurrying to take a throw, and a player a distance away strolls to take the throw. Wycombe were masters at it. I thinks things are worse, because it still happens and the rule makes it difficult to book someone for it, as it perceived to no longer be an issue. Personally I think we should be radical an have a fixed clock that stops every time the ball is not in play.Walthamsto wrote: Sat Sep 19, 2026 7:54 pm It’s not. Re: Stupid rule
There needs to be some sort of common sense applied to it. Nobody in their right mind could conclude that Kabia was faking injury.Hoover Attack wrote: Sat Sep 19, 2026 7:53 pm It’s to stop players faking injuries. Nothing wrong with that.

Obviously depends on the ref but have seen them start the 5 second count when a player hasn’t even got the ball in their hands if they’re taking the pee.

Re: Stupid rule
Pierre Luigi put his arm across, for sure, I think it’s obstruction but what do I know, however I don’t think Kabia was anywhere near as injured as he was making out. It was all for the ref, to get him to give the next decision. The Reverend wrote: Sat Sep 19, 2026 8:22 pmThere needs to be some sort of common sense applied to it. Pierre Luigi does seem to be losing his touch. I had grown to like him as a sort of pantomime villain against us over the years. He was fairly innocuous today.

There is an exception that if the player gets booked you don't have to go offThe Reverend wrote: Sat Sep 19, 2026 7:49 pm In the first half that fanny who used to play for Salford wiped out Kabia off the ball and properly hurt him. Looked like his knee.

Re: Stupid rule
I disagree. Kabia’s one annoying habit is that he’s constantly diving and the incident where he was sent to the touchline occurred not long after he made a lengthy appeal for a penalty. Refs get to know who is playacting all the time, so when a real foul occurs like this one might have been, the ref feels more likely to give a defender the benefit of the doubt. The Reverend wrote: Sat Sep 19, 2026 8:22 pmThere needs to be some sort of common sense applied to it. He did have one gilt edged chance with a free header from a corner just over the vat in the first half. The Reverend wrote: Sat Sep 19, 2026 8:26 pmHmmm I’m not sure about that.Hoover Attack wrote: Sat Sep 19, 2026 8:25 pmPierre Luigi put his arm across, for sure, I think it’s obstruction but what do I know, however I don’t think Kabia was anywhere near as injured as he was making out. I’ve long said that players’ shirts should be ‘tearable’, thus leaving a handful of evidence.Orientnil wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 10:21 am IMHO it pales into inignificance compared to the acceptance of shirt pulling and penalty area wrestling.

It was crazy that wasn’t awarded.
