Excuses. He's had huge investment in this squad. Probably spent more than Barnsley.

The difference is they've kept hold of Cleary (for now), we sold Dom.

Now he's throwing senior players under the bus because he's been tactically outmaneuvered once again.

Has he actually improved any players in the last two seasons? Seems to just kill players' confidence and toss them aside.

He improved Ballard, but that was about it.

That was a poor interview.

Dom scored on his debut and got his first hattrick after six matches - not sure Richie can claim much credit for his natural ability.

Where did he throw senior players under the bus ?
Someone else claimed it was a young team on here
As has RW ?
Who are the senior players he called out ?

Said it in the summer and stand by it. RW gone by November.

Has run out of ideas, and never talks about his own shortcomings- it's always the players' fault: not a good look - keep that in the dressing room.
I'm not saying he's explicitly said that today, but that's his default position.

Saying all of that- the team needs time to gel of course, but I imagine the owners won't wear another abomination like 25/26 for too long.

I do hope I'm wrong though!...

I wanted him sacked last season but new season was behind him, let's see how we do etc but it's just the same old isn't it for me, throwing players under the bus, saying how other teams can sign x or do x, we must've spent a fortune in the summer, it's just done to tactical things though, his subs just seem random and childish at times, taking off the striker to play Theo up top, not marking Cleary out the game etc, Clare was in the bomb squad, then comes on today

I honestly think his biggest positive and negative is almost his self belief, it's great when it is going well but he almost has no self reflection sometimes, it's always someone else or something else, sometimes you have to admit you got it wrong after 20 minutes, half-time, full time, change it, bite the bullet etc

Jarring interview to give after a performance like that. Sometimes it's worth saying I got things wrong and we move onto the next game. Digging out specific players, complaining the fans are being impatient, implying we don't spend much - all sounds like buck passing.

And saying forget about the play offs in game 3 is bizarre.

Reassuring to know that the owners have specified RW’s remit as to keep us from relegation!😂

Always been a fan of Richie but I’m more depressed after watching that than the game itself.

Sigh. Maybe he is right and it’s a reality check but he’s changed his tune from the days of “forget little Leyton Orient”.

What staggered me was him saying we all want top six but the owners not expecting it , don’t tell Gandlier we’re aiming for another season of mediocrity

The supporters expect us to win every single week? We haven't won at home in the League since mid-March, Richie.

All we want to see is a team that looks like it can string more than 3-4 passes together and a bit of effort, bit of fight. That's not asking too much.

I wanted him gone then too. The owner and board have backed him this summer, and with early signings to boot.

He's had a new DoF who looks like he's well plugged in to the transfer market, and yet he still goes on about other clubs' resources, throws players under the bus publicly etc etc etc.

Donny fans warned us, and the Donny board grew weary of his statements and behaviour.

I love the man for what he's achieved on our behalf, but his excuses have worn very thin.

Another couple of interviews like that and Wellens will be able to create the same lack of care from the players as he managed last season.
Then he can really bleat that it's not his fault.

Blame the players, blame the fans.

It wasn't our half time whistle in the dark that inspired that performance .

I mean if that’s true that’s worrying in a wider scale. More like Richie sulking that we sold Ballard but could the owners be happy to chug along in league one, get a couple of decent fees every year?

What did he get wrong today?

What else could he have done, personnel, formation or tactics wise, to secure a better performance and result?

That interview was a reminder to fans that we’re 3 league games in, this is a work in progress, we are a young side, the reaction from some of our fans was diagusring today.

The booing at half time took me by surprise. We were 1-0 down ffs. I understand why Richie was upset at that.

Although they are a younger side and looked miles ahead of us
