Re: Tyreeq Bakinson
My 5 year old doesn’t have a particularly good grasp on the individual performance of players but sighs when I say Bakinson is playing because “he always gives the ball away”.
Sums it up really. He had the odd outstanding pass our finish in him but for every one there were 100 poor passes or shots. Just don’t think he’s good enough for league one

Re: Tyreeq Bakinson
He's got a decent touch and technically not bad but decision-making and passing is generally poor.
For a big lad, he's also surprisingly easy to push off the ball and not particularly fast.
Either way, much like Koroma, he doesn't suit our playing style and we'd do well to get rid ASAP.

Re: Tyreeq Bakinson
Had a few games where he looked class - think it was home against Luton where he went off at half time but had bossed the midfield, at Wimbledon away second half he was incredible. There's clearly a player in there but stunk out far too many games, perhaps because he's not the sort of player that responds to Wellens style. Needs to go but under the right manager I could see him being a decent league 1 player.

Re: Tyreeq Bakinson
When he came in and Wellens said he had been admiring him for a few seasons we all thought it would be an upgrade in midfield.
One of those odd ones where he looked really good in a couple of games and you could see it. Very physical, good touch, scored a really good volley. Thought he'd push on and be good.
But he was just so inconsistent. The games that he affected became further and further apart.
Shame in that clearly he could be a very effective player and it hasn't worked out here.
Not a shame in that hopefully this will free up the wage budget to bring in someone who can affect more matched positively.

Those words (or similar ones) and the amount of clubs he’s had makes me think it’s mental or aptitude over ability.
As people have said, there’s been small flashes so he’s got “it” but just no consistency

I'm still surprised not to see abdulai in this list I think he was also guilty of being very inconsistent last seasonBandy Legs wrote: Thu Jul 02, 2026 10:45 pmUpdated that for yougshaw wrote: Thu Jul 02, 2026 9:57 pmThe Boco Island Five... now four and soon to be three

Abdulai is not in the list because unlike the other 5, he has not been transfer listed.EastAngliO wrote: Fri Jul 03, 2026 12:17 pm I'm still surprised not to see abdulai in this list I think he was also guilty of being very inconsistent last season

Re: Tyreeq Bakinson
Got a decent touch, but decision making is too often poor: particularly under pressure.
That side of a player is really hard to coach- a football brain is there or it's not.
Of course, once or twice he's bossed games so maybe it's a mental thing.
For a big lad (6ft 3?) he's way too easy to push off the ball so either needs to become more aggressive in the challenge (another thing that's hard to coach if it's not who the player "is") or bulk up more.
Either way- Wellens has clearly decided he's seen enough. Maybe he could do better in a different playing system as an 8 but that remains to be seen.

Re: Tyreeq Bakinson
He's not a big lad. He's just tall.
Agreed it's his decision making that's his biggest downfall, gave the ball away far too often.

Re: Tyreeq Bakinson
He was pretty underwhelming on the pitch an from everything Richie has said there has been a definite issue with the squad's attitude. Whether there's a player in there or not, some times you just have say, you're not adding enough to the group to justify being bang average on the pitch. The reason Pratts an Becks played on for longer than they perhaps should have was because they were gold behind the scenes. I think one of the reasons that Sean Clare was transfer listed is that he was brought in to do the Pratts role and just couldn't. He might be a good lad but he isn't driving everyone to do better. Add to that he's been a bit of liability on the pitch and you've got no reason to keep him.

Probably best for both parties that he moves on. Clearly actually wants to play football if willing to terminate contract to go on a free, which in itself deserves respect.

Not sure that's going to happen though he's under contract until June 2028. Not sure I agree. I can`t remember that we have transferlisted (officially) any player over the last 25 years. If a player has been placed on the list I think the way back is very long. And, we have already signed players in "their" positions.

Re: Tyreeq Bakinson
We may not have gone public with it but we've definitely let players know that they're not in our plans. Connor Wood and Harry Smith come to mind. Another reason we tended not to do it is that until the last couple of years we didn't offer anyone more than a year or two contract. Its a lot easier to release players that way. Now we're signing players for three or four years, on decent money. A signing that doesn't work out is a far bigger problem no, and you have almost no alternative other than transfer listing them or cancelling their contract.Bergen wrote: Fri Jul 03, 2026 9:08 pm Not sure I agree.
