Re: Crewe (H) Match / Exiles Thread
Late goals are killing us, missing the penalty is real turning point. No need to chastise the manager. Perhaps the substitutions haven't worked too well in these last number of games.

We should have pushed up all game - especially in midfield. We also need to play with two recognisable strikers at home. Some not so good tactical decisions. I would have brought on Alabi rather than Harrold - game more likely to be won on the floor than in the air.

Re: Crewe (H) Match / Exiles Thread
I have to question how Alabi can be keeping Sotirou off the bench. We know Alabi and what he can do (not a very long list) but Sotiriou has pace which is something none of our other forwards seem to have.

JMD scores and as you say it's a different story but he didn't. We didn't work the keeper enough, unlike Brill who kept us in the game with those two saves in 30 seconds.

Delivery into the box always seemed straightforward for their keeper too.

Re: Crewe (H) Match / Exiles Thread
We tend to crowd the opposition box at times; not a good ploy as it creates a crowded penalty area. We need to create space, angles for pull-backs and lay-offs.

That's what the manager is paid to do. Late goals suggest a fitness issue too.

Still happy enough for RE to be given longer, but do feel that we're an experienced manager away from being a decent team at this level. Just need more organisation and direction to our play, we have the players to do alright.
Someone who can have a similar impact to JE when he came in, immediately brought some structure to our play and made us solid as a unit, players understanding their roles etc.

Re: Crewe (H) Match / Exiles Thread
I totally blame Ross for that defeat tonight . That's another game we shouldn't have lost but did thanks to his tactical inexperience . Why take off Gorman and Dennis . As soon as those two went off the game changed in Crewe's favour . Yet another reason proven tonight why we need to bring in an experienced manager . The team was doing fine yet Ross seems to make substitutions just for the sake of it . The team was doing fine , just leave things alone . A word about Dale Gorman. I've been one of his biggest critics but tonight he played the best I've ever seen him play for us . I thought he was outstanding tonight . Our problems really started when he came off because that invited Crewe onto us . Well done Dale , just carry on playing like that and you'll be just fine . On Saturday , Dale and Louis has to stay on for the full 90 minutes unless injured . Ross should only change the team if we're losing , not while it's doing good .

I know JMD grabbed the ball straight away but why didn't Wilkinson take it? If only Angol was still on the pitch!

When Dennis came off he would have been the ideal substitute because of his peace .Eat The Rich wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 10:16 pm I have to question how Alabi can be keeping Sotirou off the bench. Our players are definitely goood enough to cope at this level. Not promotion but mid table. We don’t lack the players but we do lack the organisation. I sometimes wonder if the players know their roles. All too often like a bunch of players who have just met up. Disjointed, disorganised.RicketyCricket wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 10:57 pm Still happy enough for RE to be given longer, but do feel that we're an experienced manager away from being a decent team at this level. The board talk about improving the match day experience. It’s gonna take more than a burger van people. The matchday experience is all about what happens on the field.

Outstanding is overegging it somewhat. But yeah, he done ok, enough to warrant a run of games in that forwards midfield role.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 10:58 pm I totally blame Ross for that defeat tonight . Marsh is not the answer as the holding CM though, you can see why he hasn’t started games.

Decent crosses were non existent tonight. Oh how we need a couple of players who can cross first time, not get into a decent position and then pass back.

Our shooting is truly abysmal. Don't think it helps when we have the pre match shooting practice using the temporary goals on the wings. We should use the real goals then maybe the players will be more relaxed when a chance comes there way.

Re: Crewe (H) Match / Exiles Thread
Losing patience with Ross I'm afraid. for a good 10 minutes at the end of the first half and start of the second he stood arguing and berating the fourth official without paying much attention to the game. As much as Ross is a lovely bloke that's not enough and we should be looking at a permanent replacement with Ross returning to his assistant role no shame in him trying and doing his best but he's coming up against some canny managers and making too many errors.
Substitutions on Saturday cost us the impetus we had at a time Exeter barely threatened and we got deeper and deeper giving them the chance to dominate and it was pretty much the same again today, thought we started really well first half and then just sat deep conceding too much possession until we went behind after that we finally pressed them and forced a mistake. second half we pressed them from the off and we looked better but the substitutions were I'm afraid rubbish and Crewe took full advantage.

When Lincoln and Danny Cowley got promoted from the NL two years ago, they had 12 pts after nine games. We have 9 pts. after nine games.
No need to panic.

Re: Crewe (H) Match / Exiles Thread
If we're basing it solely on one attribute then both players would have been an appropriate substitution (though this is based on what I keep hearing about Sotiriou. No idea if his pace is being overrated because people don't like Alabi).RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 11:02 pmWhen Dennis came off he would have been the ideal substitute because of his peace .Eat The Rich wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 10:16 pm I have to question how Alabi can be keeping Sotirou off the bench. Individual players might be good enough, but what about the collective team and skillsets?dOh Nut wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 11:12 pmOur players are definitely goood enough to cope at this level. For example, we don't have a huge amount of pace, are not massively mobile, do not have much creativity and incision and distribution from the back and middle is generally poor (particularly the former). So while individual players may be "good enough" in isolation, put them into the same team and you can see why things are not working out great at a higher level.
