I guess that if these tariffs were to be abandoned by the Traitor in Chief, then the Dow and other stock markets would bounce back from their massive plunges today (and of the last little while since they were mooted). I suppose that would mean that anyone with prior knowledge of such a roll-back on these tariffs might be able to make an absolute killing on the deal - if they were dishonest / unethical / greedy enough.

I wonder...........

Stock markets plunge as China announces retaliatory 34% tariffs on US goods.

Oh dear.

It looks like the Traitor in Chief hasn't raised any tariffs on Russia. Is that because they don't do any business with Russia, or some other reason?

This is all a load of fun. Tech companies taking a hiding, hearing an iPhone could cost £3,500 soon. This could all end well with people realising they don't need all the stuff that capitalism says they need. Chaos is good as that is the place where real change happens.

Yeah, capitalists crashing capitalism because they have suddenly realised it doesn't work.

At least mindless consumerism is in the toilet.

Bond market tanked, the pressure on him to do the u-turn would have been tremendous.

Will be fun if China called in the massive debt that the US owes them.

Correct. He was willing to weather the equities storm, but even Trump knows that you f*ck about with the bond market at your peril.

If only he knew the bond market would rank before he did it…

It’s all another ego boost and manipulation of markets to benefit his mates

This reeks of like market manipulation to me, threaten to raise Tarrifs, market tanks, then pull the Tarrifs and watch the market rise…..

Quite possibly, but I don't think Team Trump anticipated the increase in yields for treasury bonds. That seemed to spook a lot of people. It wouldn't surprise me if that was China's doing as a retaliatory strike.

Wasn't it Japan who started selling Bigly? I believe the China Central Bank ordered a halt to future purchases of bonds and had started to sell too.

And if Team Trump couldn't anticipate the reaction they got from raising Tariffs Willy Nilly then they need to be P45'd. It was more about market manipulation and granting exemptions from tariffs to certain companies in exchange for campaign contributions, buying TrumpCrypto etc.

Had to laugh when the ultra right wing fascist Kochs et al threatened to sue over the tariffs.

I read that Trump has ordered the recommissioning of Alcatraz.

I can think of at least one fruit-loop as a new entrant.

Perhaps he’s keen on a remake of ‘Debbie Does Dallas’?

The Orange One was spouting on during his press conference with Mark Carney about a big announcement before he goes to the Middle East on Monday. One of the biggest announcements in a number of years he said.

How long before the man-baby claims that the appointment of the new Pope is all part of his plan to MAGA?
