I'm not too sure about that . I watched the game this evening and thought they blew Charlton away . If we meet Charlton in the play offs I hope they play like that again . I thought they were poor.

How many of them are yanks who have started supporting because of some documentary? It’s a fake fan base with no real connection to the club.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 9:34 pmHow many fans do Orient take to Wembley whenever they go? Compared to how many go to games every week?

They had four seasons in the second tier over 40 years ago. If they are a big club, we must be massive.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 7:15 pm Have no ill will with Wrexham at all. Big club who were f*cked. Good luck to them.

I’d guess they will benefit from a handful of tourists each week. I’d guess they also benefit - slightly more - from bigger away fan followings that turn up because of the show.HackneyO wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 9:56 pmHow many of them are yanks who have started supporting because of some documentary? The majority of the increase in attendances from 3-4k to 7-8k in the national league, and up to 10-11k now back in the football league will of course be locals. But the suggestion these fans stuck with them through the dark days is wrong.

All driven by a sycophantic press interest that’s catering to a yank audience creating a false commercial presence. Look at the us tours, sponsorship deals and celeb endorsements and ownership beyond dead pool and the other one. It’s all fake.

Of all the clubs to pick on it ain’t Wrexham. They are a proper football club that got lucky. Every team in the premier league is now followed by thousands of tourists every week. Are they all fake?, if they are, who is real? If we get to the championship and moved stadiums we would find another 8,000 fans. Mostly tourists and glory hunters. Are we then fake?

Can be both though, can't it. Fans who've followed the club through years in the NL - definitely not plastic. Ones who previously couldn't spot Wales on a map - definitely plastic.
Be interesting to see how their strategy of overpaying for big names on long contracts plays out.

Most clubs have a die hard fan base that will show up always. Then another cohort that will show up when the club gets some success and/or play well. Then you’ll get the glory hunters when you get to a final. I don’t think we’re any different.
Wrexham have been around us for decades and are now getting some success. I like how the owners have engaged with the community. We all know first hand how it shouldn’t be done.
I wish them well.

Did we not take over double our normal attendance to our last play off final?

Orient are much smaller than Wrexham. That was the case before Orient won 2 league titles in recent yearsOyinbO wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 1:12 amThey had four seasons in the second tier over 40 years ago. Bizarre to me that some Orient fans look down on them.

Who cares? Orient have fans all over the place with no connection to club just because someone has just picked them to support.HackneyO wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 9:56 pmHow many of them are yanks who have started supporting because of some documentary? Are you happy having people turning up in the south stand for a day out not adding anything to the atmosphere?

Re: Wrexham v Charlton
They’ve never been in the top flight. Never got to an FA Cup semi. Spent far fewer seasons in the second tier. Have lower attendances historically. Became a football league club well after us. Marooned in non-league for much longer. Trying to find a single non-Hollywood metric where they can be said to be much bigger than us, and honestly I’m struggling.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 11:25 amOrient are much smaller than Wrexham. BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 11:29 amNo I’d rather we kept day trippers out of the stand that creates the atmosphere. The premier league is full of tourists like that who spend more time taking selfies than watching the game and are there for the cachet rather than the team.HackneyO wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 9:56 pmBiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 9:34 pm

All the ridiculous press Wrexham get about being a fairy tale club, a great story of overcoming adversity is total rubbish. I

I can't help feeling there's some jealousy seeping through here . I don't know why because it's a very exciting time to be an Orient supporter. We're in the play off mix and playing some great football . We also have the prospect of a new stadium to look forward to . What's not to like .

5,000 ish before they turned up (but that was in the football league).BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 11:20 amWhat were Orient getting before Nigel and Kent came in? We then averaged 5,000 ish in the National League seasons, slightly under 5 in the first season, slightly over 5 in the promotion season.
We then averaged 5,000 ish in the seasons after returning to the football league, until changing the methodology for calculating attendances.
Our support really is consistent, nothing like theirs.
