Re: David Gandler- New majority owner
Im nervous like many others, but on another point, has DG actually got enough money to make much difference?
Sure we know the leccy bill will now be paid, but has the man got enough to finance a decent squad, when even ordinary league 1 players cost a fortune these days

Re: David Gandler- New majority owner
I suppose we'll find out during the Summer . We need to be signing players of the quality of Kelman and Currie and retaining players like Galbraith if we want to progress further . Obviously , that's not going to be cheap .Qin wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 10:49 pm Im nervous like many others, but on another point, has DG actually got enough money to make much difference?

Re: David Gandler- New majority owner
I’d like to hear from him before I make any opinions. Nigel is saying all the right things and with him and some of the board staying on, that shows a belief in the new ownership.
There seems to be a reserved optimism, which is what is needed. Glad the club are looking at staying in the borough too.

Re: David Gandler- New majority owner
Sometimes its not about having the money, but having access to the money. Clearly a smart man, well connected in sporting circles. As an initial impression he does not strike me as someone just looking to coast and he will know that even standing still in English football costs real money. He will invest to progress in my opinion. He knows the board's stated aims and has reiterated them - and he will be very aware of the funding gap in those aspirations. Whether he achieves the restated aims of yesterday we all will have to wait in hope. I wish him the best of luck.Qin wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 10:49 pm Im nervous like many others, but on another point, has DG actually got enough money to make much difference?

From the press article Other key figures involved include Kit Hawkins, a tech and sports entrepreneur, and Neil Leibman, an executive with the Texas Rangers MLB franchise (Generate $400m a year)
Also With Paris FC he worked with a variety of other multi Billion investors including Bahrain Sovereign Wealth Fund.
So well connected should the need to raise further funds you would think.

Crivens. Let's hope he's not too close to human rights abusing Bahrain and we end up as a sportswashing operation.bacon wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 8:54 am From the press article Other key figures involved include Kit Hawkins, a tech and sports entrepreneur, and Neil Leibman, an executive with the Texas Rangers MLB franchise (Generate $400m a year)

Presumably other investors will be following, as per that guardian article from a few weeks ago.
Fubo's merger with Disney is under investigation from the doj under anti competition rules, so fingers crossed he's not going to run into pretty immediate cash issues...

Does anyone know why Barry Hearn’s puppet is still on the Board? 11 years on and we still can’t shake off Matchroom

Matt Porter is a lifelong Orient fan and has diligently worked his socks off for us for many years.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 5:25 pm Does anyone know why Barry Hearn’s puppet is still on the Board? 11 years on and we still can’t shake off Matchroom![]()

He is Investing in 1/72th of the EFL & History.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 2:29 pm Whilst Travis can't hold the new owners to delivering a new ground, I don't see what the value of investing in Orient is if they don't. Otherwise they are sinking money into an asset-less financial sinkhole with a hard limit on how much it can grow.
The devil in the detail will be how much debt these people will load onto the club to deliver the ground. The profile of them suggests pretty clear eyed money men and not the types who are doing this for a bit of fun.

I thought he was employed and had his wages paid by the Matchroom Empire? Apologies if that’s not the case.Perry Combover wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 6:33 pmMatt Porter is a lifelong Orient fan and has diligently worked his socks off for us for many years.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 5:25 pm Does anyone know why Barry Hearn’s puppet is still on the Board? 11 years on and we still can’t shake off Matchroom![]()

Was in the supporters club after the game with Nigel Travis.
A well turned out chap, but not in a flashy way.
No sycophants trailing him in the way that Beelzebub used to have, either.

Matt is the CEO of the PDC, so is effectively on the Matchroom payroll.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 7:01 pmI thought he was employed and had his wages paid by the Matchroom Empire?
