Re: NEW GROUND
Went there in the 50's to see Leyton play Ilford. Can't remember very much but would there be enough room for a 15,000 capacity and a hotel?

Re: NEW GROUND
the landlord of the hare and hounds would be in clover. transport links not great. space limited. what about a car park?
(idle information: back in the day a certain england international david platt, got a lot of money to film an advert for macdonalds. he had to film an overhead kick into the net. arrived by helicopter and only needed one take to execute it perfectly...)

Re: NEW GROUND
H&H ground is tiny, one way in one way out and no parking. The only thing it's got going for it is I scored my best goal there with a crashing left foot volley from 25 yards that flew in top bins. the keeper didn't move. it was my one and only "worldie"

Re: NEW GROUND
It wasn't easy finding somewhere to park 40 or 50 years for a Sunday morning Hackney and Leyton league
Game, good luck now.Still it was handy having the pub next door, quick change gave you just enough time for a few pints.

Drapers, towards Stratford, is 25% bigger than Brizzie. And closer to both Stratford and Leyton tubes.

I was told by a friend who lives around Hackney Wick that Drapers field is already earmarked for a housing developmentOrient_Man_And_Boy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 10:49 pm Drapers, towards Stratford, is 25% bigger than Brizzie. And closer to both Stratford and Leyton tubes.

Re: NEW GROUND
Have to remember though if we were to move then Brisbane Road undoubtedly would become housing, so it would offset any potential building scheme elsewhere,RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 12:19 amI was told by a friend who lives around Hackney Wick that Drapers field is already earmarked for a housing developmentOrient_Man_And_Boy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 10:49 pm Drapers, towards Stratford, is 25% bigger than Brizzie. Re: NEW GROUND
I was on the Stadium Tour yesterday and Barry Galvin (who was our host) hinted that one of the local retail areas could be redeveloped.
It’ll be a test of how keen are LBWF?

Re: NEW GROUND
My money is on the Asda and Retail Park at Temple Mills (opposite Leyton Tube).
Asda aren't fairing too well so may already be thinking of closing the store, or would be a welcome relief if forced to close. As for the retail units, some of them might stay in some capacity.

Re: NEW GROUND
Leyton Mills would be bad for those of us that live here and rely on its amenities.
The Asda is an excellent asset to the area, along with B&Q and the other shops. I’m hoping it’s not located there, although there is space for flats so does make it viable in regards LBWF.

Re: NEW GROUND
Never know, to keep the locals happy they may be thinking of somehow including a supermarket within the stadium design, though who would occupy it may not necessarily be Asda.LPE wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 7:27 am Leyton Mills would be bad for those of us that live here and rely on its amenities.

Re: NEW GROUND
Would the station need to be ungraded? 15’000 coming out of the ground straight onto the tube might get a bit congested

Re: NEW GROUND
Leyton Mills is getting redeveloped regardless of whether we build a ground there. The council have committed to building thousands of homes in that area. It's probably the most prime untapped location in the borough for housing, being right next to the station as it is.
A stadium there would be the best location we could hope for, I'd be chuffed to bits if that's where we ended up.

Re: NEW GROUND
Personally I don't like the idea of moving closer to West Ham at the Olympic Stadium . I would prefer we moved further North towards Walthamstow but of course beggars can't be choosers.
