The distance won’t help you. I was up at 3.30am to watch that and I will be up for Tuesday…
I might just turn my phone off on match days
Of course it’s up to you.

The club do a pretty good job of allowing overseas fans to stay involved with the streaming of games, and their twitter and app.

It will never replace the feeling of being physically there but you can still feel part of it if you want to.
I lived in Melbourne for 2 years back in the mid 90’s. Every Monday, and some Thursdays, I used to walk about 2 miles to the only shop that had an English newspaper to find out the football results. No tables or scorers. I had a notebook and had to manually put in everyone’s results to figure out where we were in the league.

How things change!

Why?

Where in Oz you moving to?
My wife is Aussie and wants to go home after 25 years here. It’s been coming for about 6 years now and I’ve finally agreed. I don’t really want to, but…

We’re going to near Gosford on the central coast, couple of hours north of Sydney.
UK friends have lived there for 25 years now, love it there. Happily my Wife is from Bethnal Green,

That’s where my little sister lives having been over there for about 10 years now.

Nice town and a nice train to get to Sydney. Much cheaper than our prices as well!!

To get back on topic, im a little worried by this. Nigel has been a safe pair of hands for us, and despite due diligence, you never quite know what will happen. A fear of the unknown i suppose.
It might end up with us playing second fiddle to an American sports team.
Also what will the pitch look like in Feburary? etc

Yes. But even if we did go broke eventually we may get the cheerleaders back. Imagine those pert derrières and heaving bosoms.

If they want to do the NFL Europe thing and other non orthodox stuff on top then hopefully they’ll have built a fair bit of goodwill through results/infrastructure or it might get ugly

An American sports team participating in a tin-pot, 16-team, pan-European league. I'd be very worried if Orient's future was dependant on the success of a side hustle.

The Due Diligence being carried out is by them on the club.

We will have made sure they have the relevant funds in place. Beyond that, of course some basic questions will have been asked about their intentions, but come on, £20m makes a lot of those tricky questions go away.

The bigger risk is that the American sports thing ends up a massive damp squib and we end up rattling around a plastic stadium back in the fourth tier.

I can't imagine they'd expect both teams to play on a grass surface, surely they'd use the system they have at spurs for swapping the pitch out, even if it was pricey.

Think Oyinbos scenario is way more likely, the average gate at this Euro NFL league is less than what we'd get for a Tuesday night game against Burton. Getting us up the leagues will definitely be the bigger prize for the new owners.

I don't really have an issue with sharing a ground if it's done in the right way. Brentford had London Irish in their new stadium for the first couple of years until they didn't need the cash anymore as they were in prem. The key thing would be that the club owns the ground outright on a long term lease and we're not beholden to an outside party like we are at the moment.

The only slight protection is that it’s not a 100% takeover. 70% gives them control but they will have some restrictions placed on their ability to go completely MAGA.

Hoover already inflating the figure to make it sound like a cash grab  .

£18m for a lower league club with no assets and clocking up 3m a year in losses feels crackers. Football really is a massive bubble waiting to burst.

Not at all - the minority interests will have a minority say. Who is holding the 30% anyway?

Minority shareholders can be a pain in the arse through requiring things to be done by the book etc.

I’d guess it will be Travis with the 30%.

Come on, £20m is just rounding up.

What do you mean by cash grab?

Anyone who thinks these guys waving £18,000,000 around are going to be interrogated is bonkers.

Reckon it's more likely everyone leaves a bit in, maybe in current ratios, so they can benefit further down the line. Otherwise the current investors will be walking away without a return.

I hear it's a tough life as an Outback Trucker ploughing through herds of kangaroos at full throttle.

I was thinking the roos (as they call'em in Oz [as they callit in Oz]) could be put to better use by capturing some big old ones (as they say in the USA) fitting boxing gloves to arms and feet and throwing them into the ring with an MMA champion who would hopefully get a right battering.

It would attract huge crowds in the entertainment starved cities of Oz and the TV rights would be extremely lucrative.

In fact I may take the idea to a well known sports promoter and stadium owner. See what he thinks of the money making potential.
