"A source with knowledge of the buyers’ plans told the Guardian they would ultimately like to attach an American football franchise to Orient that would play in the European League of Football."
I'd never heard of this before, but looking forward to the Leyton Blades getting stuck in to the Paris Musketeers.

European league of football. What does that even mean?Dunners wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 7:51 pm "A source with knowledge of the buyers’ plans told the Guardian they would ultimately like to attach an American football franchise to Orient that would play in the European League of Football."

Interesting news that. Would make sense with the new ground to have another tenant and would mean the new owners will be tied in for the long haul.
Replacing one set of American corporate execs for another makes it hard to judge how much wealthier this lot are. But they will be coming in with an expectation of a return for sure. Sounds like current lot will be getting out at basically break even which is pretty impressive.

Often wondered if we could share with a rugby club but not many near to us, NFL could be a stroke of genius. Spurs seem to have done well with it the games there appear popular

Yeah, so take all the “poor me” stuff from Travis et al with a pinch of salt. And as for the new lot, this could all just be part of the ploy to get the new stadium approved - at which point the value of the Club goes through the roof and kerching!Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 8:38 pm Interesting news that. My wife is Aussie and wants to go home after 25 years here. It’s been coming for about 6 years now and I’ve finally agreed. I don’t really want to, but…
We’re going to near Gosford on the central coast, couple of hours north of Sydney.

Of course it’s up to you.
The club do a pretty good job of allowing overseas fans to stay involved with the streaming of games, and their twitter and app.
It will never replace the feeling of being physically there but you can still feel part of it if you want to.

One of the beachy spots, or around brisbane waters? Nice up there, a much slower pace of life than in a city. Once you get over the loss of friends and family and build up a new community you'll wish you'd done it 20 years ago.

All the best. OH is homesick, if our finances and personal circs allowed I'd be all over heading to the Antipodes. Embrace it.

Reading all of that and where the club is going just makes me sad.

As long as they don’t have the surname Coreleone, as I’ve had enough of Italian owners
