Re: Jayden Sweeney
Maybe it's better to now drop the subject on Sweeney as a few people on here seem to get irritated if you happen to say that he's not quite up to standard.

Re: Jayden Sweeney
Sweeney is a decent back up imv
Currie cost Oxford £1m and you can see why. We did well to get him. But we’re not going to have a player of Currie’s stature as back up in case a dozy ref gives a wrong card.

Re: Jayden Sweeney
It’s fair to call out poor performances, but after a team performance like yesterday where he was nowhere near the worst on the pitch, it seems targeted to specifically have a named thread.Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 9:20 am Maybe it's better to now drop the subject on Sweeney as a few people on here seem to get irritated if you happen to say that he's not quite up to standard.

Re: Jayden Sweeney
Fair comment, there are quite a number of players whose performances have dropped off significantly. To single Sweeney out seems grossly unfair. Eg, Keeley is going through a rough patch but we ain’t balling him out every match.HackneyO wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 10:10 amIt’s fair to call out poor performances, but after a team performance like yesterday where he was nowhere near the worst on the pitch, it seems targeted to specifically have a named thread.Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 9:20 am Maybe it's better to now drop the subject on Sweeney as a few people on here seem to get irritated if you happen to say that he's not quite up to standard.

Re: Jayden Sweeney
I agree 100% about being a thread title. Not necessary. However, I do happen to think that the player is not quite up to standard for this division. Loses his man easily and is out of position far too many times.HackneyO wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 10:10 amIt’s fair to call out poor performances, but after a team performance like yesterday where he was nowhere near the worst on the pitch, it seems targeted to specifically have a named thread.Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 9:20 am Maybe it's better to now drop the subject on Sweeney as a few people on here seem to get irritated if you happen to say that he's not quite up to standard.

So just to clarify: on a Leyton Orient message board it’s unacceptable to start a thread about a Leyton Orient player?Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 10:29 amI agree 100% about being a thread title. Of course not, but equally it is acceptable to question why an individual is being named and shamed when the actual individual and team performance is taken into consideration. The Reverend wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 10:48 amSo just to clarify: on a Leyton Orient message board it’s unacceptable to start a thread about a Leyton Orient player?Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 10:29 amI agree 100% about being a thread title. The Reverend...
No, i'm not saying it's unacceptable, as you put it. I'm saying it's not really necessary to have one of our own players name put up as a heading with the intention to criticise and demean.

Re: Jayden Sweeney
Spot on re the centre mids, story of the season, why we constantly have to go back to the centre halves even from high wide positions.Greenwich Orient wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 8:20 am Think the way we were set up to play in the first half did Sweeney absolutely no favours at all yesterday. He saw so much of the ball because we played everything down the left, but we were so narrow there was absolutely no width, and none of the centre mids were ever giving him any options, meaning his only choice was to either travel with the ball or pass hopefully. Ended up giving away possession an awful lot but I’m not sure how much of that was his fault

Re: Jayden Sweeney
Stop being a tw*t, is basically what is being said. We all know Sweeney is not great but yesterday he fought as well as anyone else on the pitch so why do you, consistently, feel the need to put the boot in on a day when nobody played well. Give it a rest. Outrageous scapegoating. Played ok - played a great ball into Agyei for 1 of our only 3 ‘efforts’.

Re: Jayden Sweeney
Unfortunately it is time that he went to play L2 football. Orient are said to be interested in a Bolton full back who is out of contract this summer. ( see on Orient newsnow)

A few Managers giving him huge compliments as well.
Yet Some in here really are giving him grief

Yep absolute cuntttts. Although I would also describe the team’s collective performance yesterday in same way.Bandy Legs wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 2:45 pm Funny how Premier league fans Brummie fans Bolton fans &Wrexham fans have all really rated Sweens.

I'm not saying Sweney is Ashley Cole but haven't about 90% of the recent goals been from corners

Re: Jayden Sweeney
I love seeing Academy players break through to the first team squad and Sweeney is one of them. Yes, he might play more at a L2 club but I like him with us. Happe has cemented his reputation with us and am hoping that Obiero will do the same eventually.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Sat Mar 08, 2025 8:44 pm At his age, he now need to be playing games regularly. I’ve watched a fair bit of NL this season, he’s too good for that.

Re: Jayden Sweeney
Before the start of this season, I decided not to berate any Orient player on the MBs or any social media. I am assuming that some players do read what is written about them and the sort of criticism that fans post cannot help them in any way. In fact, just the opposite. I wish more fans would feel the same but its not going to happen.

He actually said pratley got in the way and didn’t help. I’d disagree with that.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 6:00 pm Didnt Wellens also say something about Pratley not defending the corner too?

Re: Jayden Sweeney
Just watched it back, Pratley is marking nobody, manages a little shove of the scorer. He was probably trying to cover the back post area after the Charlton debacle.

Yes, Pratley was spare at the back.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 6:08 pm Just watched it back, Pratley is marking nobody, manages a little shove of the scorer. He was probably trying to cover the back post area after the Charlton debacle.
We went with Dobley, Agyei and Pratley as zonal markers. Couldn’t work out why Donley and Agyei were both so far forward, I suspect Agyei should have been more central.
Sweeney was never going to out muscle a lump like that from a standing start, it’s bonkers to have him doing the protect the keeper role.
