Re: Nathan Jones
Wasn't in reference to any posting here. More how fans behave at the match. Personally, I really like it when the goalie turns round and gives some - Rab Douglas was brilliant for it - back-and-forth bantz at most games. Didn't stop some twats demanding he be arrested for incitement.

Re: Nathan Jones
I'm calling bullshit on this. I didn't hear anything out of the ordinary. And certainly nothing to the degree of abuse that Jones referred to. Please correct me if I'm wrong and anyone heard what was allegedly said.
The interview just smacks of him having to come up with an excuse for acting like a penis.

Re: Nathan Jones
2nd goal wise, if the Charlton Players had been giving it large to the South Stand etc... maybe, but level of goading of the family stand gobbing towards it was definitely ott, there was no abuse of the Charlton players at corners or anything down that end so I think thats why it stood out, and felt a bit pre-meditated. As an old person I'm sure most players reactions when they scored was to celebrate with their own fans unless there was some previous. I guess its symbolic of the times, victory is more about the harm you can do to others than the achievement of yourself.
In other words Trump is probably a Charlton fan.
Nothing you can do about it of course, and we'll all get over that far quicker than the actual issue of the result.

Re: Nathan Jones
The Charlton "football in a library" chant did give me a chuckle. Very poor atmosphere from the home fans

Unusual set of photos of fans, mostly of our lot giving it to the Charlton end, presumably after we scored the first. I have always found that sort of stuff weird. There's something wrong with you if you're more focused on the opposition fans than you are with the game.
But for the club to be celebrating it? That's properly weird.

Mate, don't mention the section of the ground they celebrated at, doesn't go down well on here.Lost not Found wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 12:12 pm 2nd goal wise, if the Charlton Players had been giving it large to the South Stand etc... maybe, but level of goading of the family stand gobbing towards it was definitely ott, there was no abuse of the Charlton players at corners or anything down that end so I think thats why it stood out, and felt a bit pre-meditated.

Re: Nathan Jones
Jones is a strange man, and has come out with some very weird stuff over the years. Another Joey Barton type figure in some ways.
His whole mindset on Saturday of "someone said some hurty words, so that gives me the justification to act like a cock", brings insight into the rationale of the bloke.
By filling the team full of huge, muscular players, he's doing okay at Charlton, but he'll be off as soon as he gets a better offer (and likely fail) as he thinks he's better than he is.

Re: Nathan Jones
Thing is, it wasn't just Jones was it? It was their entire outfit. Their whole bench went up, and quickly did a 180 to give it to the West Stand. And - as mentioned above - the players on the pitch gave it the biggun at the NE corner, which was proper weird as that certainly wasn't a hotbed of anything going in the other direction at any point in the match. In fact if you watch back some of the footage after their winner you can see how about 5 or 6 of their players were more interested in giving it to the Family Stand than in celebrating with each other. Very very odd behaviour.

Re: Nathan Jones
But the way all their players reacted as well?
There has to be some 'beef' that we just don't know about.

It could just be the culture that Jones has created at Charlton?Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 2:31 pm But the way all their players reacted as well?

Re: Nathan Jones
He did this when he was at Luton, started giving it large when we lost 1-0 despite us not making a peep because we were doomed to relegation and they were fighting for promotion.
It's his way of celebrating, and he's a cretinous dislikable human being. Can't wait to see him have another run of form where he blames everyone but himself or God and then gets sacked.
Horrible man, horrible football club - cannot stand them.

Re: Nathan Jones
I quite like Charlton. Their fans were excellent on Saturday, great stadium, massively overachieved in the prem when I was growing up and always seemed like a likeable bunch.
Jones on the other hand is a knob and it'll be funny when it inevitably goes tits up for him. Managers who behave like they are the star player are always deeply irritating.

Re: Nathan Jones
Simple - Little Man Syndrome, complete knob!
We will have last laugh, when we finish in play offs, and Charlton miss out.
Charlton still have to play: Stockport (A) Huddersfield (H) Wycombe (A) Wrexham (A)

Re: Nathan Jones
Same for me. No dislike for Charlton at all. Proper football club with a loyal fanbase that doesn't have the moron count of some of their near-neighbours.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 2:52 pm I quite like Charlton. Probably appointed Jones out of sheer desperation to get out of L1 by any means. It's going well but it could have gone very badly too, based on his record at Stoke/Southampton. They gambled. It doesn't 'seem' a good fit but they're on a good run at the moment.
I've no doubt there are some within their fans that aren't too happy with Saturday's antics, and by that I mean Jones, his backroom team, and side, behaving like a load of graceless morons.
