Re: Trump Watch 2.0
what’s interesting - and damning of a couple of this messageboard’s c***s - is that the whole point of these symbols is for those who use them (and attempt to contextualise or downplay them) to essentially take the piss. It’s an attempted show of strength.
Though in reality it shows weakness. Red Dwarf for example doesn’t have the actual balls to say “it’s a Nazi salute, and you know what? I like the cut of their jib”, so instead he disgraces himself by adopting what he knows is implausible - “I don’t know why they do it but it’s bad optics” even though he actually knows that by downplaying, he’s making excuses for actual nazis

If the actions and stated aims of the people making these salutes didn't match with fascism then it would be dismissed as a dumb gesture.
But we can all (well, mostly all) see that the salute fits them like a glove.

He denied making a Nazi salute . He claimed he meant " My heart goes out to you ". If that really was the case then the optics of that looked terrible. What would have been better is if he made a heart shape with his two index fingers and thumbs and pointed at the crowed . Anyway , yes I agree it looked bad .
Oh do f*** off. It was a Nazi salute. End of discussion. Either you support him doing that, or you don’t. There’s no middle ground, no grey areas on this.

Yeah Musk’s Twitter denials reminded me of when those two Russians poisoned the guy and then said they were in Salisbury to see the cathedral.CEB2ElectricBoogaloo wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 11:20 am for those who use them (and attempt to contextualise or downplay them) to essentially take the piss. The obvious lie wasn’t a slip up on their point, it was meant to be implausible.

I didn’t say you denied that it’s a Nazi salute. I’m asking why you maintain “I don’t know what they’re thinking” rather than accepting that there’s a very obvious reason they’d do a Nazi salute, and that that reason should spur you to make it absolutely clear that any support you have given to those people was misguided, and so you retract it

Nazi salute there from Bannon. Same from Musk. This is getting seriously dark now.
Projections from today's general election vote in Germany of far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) expected to become the second biggest force in the country.
These folks sure are learning the wrong lessons from history.

I really want Liz Truss to give ot a go, mainly because she'd almost certainly poke herself in the eye and then send the microphone flying.

Re: Trump Watch 2.0
Today marks three years since Russia invaded Ukraine . I stand fully with Ukraine . I think we would all agree Putin is a paranoid Cnut . On this issue I think Trump is wrong and bang out of order . However although I think the Ukrainian army is lion hearted , I can't see them winning this war on the battle field . Therefore how do we get a peace deal ? . In an ideal world Russia would retreat and pull their troops back to Russia but unfortunately we don't live in an ideal world

Yes but don't forget, when those Russians were questioned they knew the exact height of the cathedral. I mean, who would know that? So something tells me they had a genuine interest in historical buildings in the UK..oxo wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 2:03 pmYeah Musk’s Twitter denials reminded me of when those two Russians poisoned the guy and then said they were in Salisbury to see the cathedral.CEB2ElectricBoogaloo wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 11:20 am for those who use them (and attempt to contextualise or downplay them) to essentially take the piss. Re: Trump Watch 2.0
I have for some time wondered whether Trump is actually illiterate.
There was the occasion when he was due to sign an important agreement in view of the media. I watched this and was quite shocked that he looked at this several page document, with his finger moving along the first few lines, mumbling along and then abandoning the task, handing the papers to somebody else.
Today Starmer handed him the letter from Charles with invitation for a state visit. Trump opened it, looked at it.
Then the letter was back in Starmer's hands who read it out to him.
