If the actions and stated aims of the people making these salutes didn't match with fascism then it would be dismissed as a dumb gesture.

Your guess is as good as mine .God's knows what they are thinking . I did wonder what Elon Musk said in defence about his salute . He denied making a Nazi salute . He claimed he meant " My heart goes out to you ". If that really was the case then the optics of that looked terrible. What would have been better is if he made a heart shape with his two index fingers and thumbs and pointed at the crowed . Anyway , yes I agree it looked bad .

I didn’t say you denied that it’s a Nazi salute. I’m asking why you maintain “I don’t know what they’re thinking” rather than accepting that there’s a very obvious reason they’d do a Nazi salute, and that that reason should spur you to make it absolutely clear that any support you have given to those people was misguided, and so you retract it

Today marks three years since Russia invaded Ukraine . I stand fully with Ukraine . I think we would all agree Putin is a paranoid Cnut . On this issue I think Trump is wrong and bang out of order . However although I think the Ukrainian army is lion hearted , I can't see them winning this war on the battle field . Therefore how do we get a peace deal ? . In an ideal world Russia would retreat and pull their troops back to Russia but unfortunately we don't live in an ideal world
