It's not - technically - a sandwich, but a steak and haggis pie in a buttered roll is f*cking gorgeous.

Re: Whats the best sandwich?
That was my Go-To (hate that expression) sandwich for years, but I think over the past couple of years the quality of the ingredients has gone right down. Such a pity, as I struggle with pre made sandwiches because of the dreaded cucumber.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 11:42 am I like the Smoked Salmon sandwich from Pret. And Toast (a few branches around essex now) do some really good toasties. Both not super cheap though.

How do you get your mouth around a pie in a roll?StillSpike wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 6:17 pm It's not - technically - a sandwich, but a steak and haggis pie in a buttered roll is f*cking gorgeous.

Seems to be a thing in Scotland to put a pie in a roll. Saw a macaroni cheese pie in a roll advertised. Carbs on carbs on carbs. MmmmmStillSpike wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 6:17 pm It's not - technically - a sandwich, but a steak and haggis pie in a buttered roll is f*cking gorgeous.

Re: Whats the best sandwich?
I love coronation chicken. You can't get it over here, so I have to make it myself at home.
When I worked in london 20 years ago there were loads of great places to go to, but last time I was back all I could find was crappy chains.
Not been there, but heard Paul Rothe & Sons is the best in london.
Best in sydney is the Chilli chicken from Big Bite.

I haven't been there in ages but I thought the 'shop' at the Irish centre was a few packs of Tayto crisps, Kimberly biscuits and Barry's tea behind the bar. Not knocking Brennan's but I wouldn't make an effort to find it.

A plain crusty roll with a slice of cheese. I still miss Percy Ingles - their cheese rolls where solid enough to chuck through a jewellers window but inexplicably good.

Re: Whats the best sandwich?
Nothing on earth will ever beat this
French baguette, Normandy slightly salted butter, slices of Tomme De Pyrenees, vine ripened Tomato, Himalayan Pink salt (from a grinder) and black pepper (also from a grinder but a different one from the salt).
Other than the one above many sandwiches are over rated, except of course Subways Meat Marinara.
