Whats the best sandwich?
I'm especially interested in ones available for purchase and how much do they cost you?
But also, lets hear about your homemade efforts.
I find you cant get anything decent for less than £5 now.

I like the Smoked Salmon sandwich from Pret. And Toast (a few branches around essex now) do some really good toasties. Both not super cheap though.

Re: Whats the best sandwich?
The Waitrose fresh baguettes are nice, I like the Ham and Emmental one. £4.95 though
Pret baguettes good too, posh cheddar pickle and chicken bacon caesar but again £££££
They used to do a ham, egg and mustard which was good but dont see it anymore.

The posh range at Tesco its a fiver dead on can it be included? It has a fantastic New York inspired pastrami and emmental with gherkins on rye bread, from the same range the deli inspired chicken and bacon caesar wrap is godly when paired with beef hula hoops and an apple tango.
Favorite sandwich is a chicken and sweetcorn mayo in a bagel

I've not yet gone down the Meal Deal Upgrade path, but perhaps I should.

I work with a geezer who gets one (sometimes two) entry level Tesco meal deals per day.
I always feel disappointed when I have to resort to them

Re: Whats the best sandwich?
Ok, not a sandwich, but Pret’s Line-Caught Tuna Bagette is good. Also their ‘New Yorker’ which has almost everything in it.
Starbuck’s Christmas Feast is good but that’s not much use right now ….

Coven of Wiches on Wood Street are the sarnie overlords/ladies. Definitely not under a fiver though.

Re: Whats the best sandwich?
Well worth trying those 2. My Mrs rates the smoked salmon and cream cheese one but shes a bit of a wrong un with questionable taste seeing as she married me. Always seems to be available as well where as the other 2 sell out quite quickly in our local Tesco ExpressLong slender neck wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 11:53 am I've not yet gone down the Meal Deal Upgrade path, but perhaps I should.

Re: Whats the best sandwich?
Easily available ready made - Sainsbury Halloumi and roast vegetable wrap is the least inedible. Pret's prosciutto, parmesan and basil was alright, but haven't been able to bring myself to pay their prices in years.

Re: Whats the best sandwich?
In theory it should be a good ahout but both times I've tried the bread had started to go soggy.

Waitrose chicken katsu curry sandwich is pretty good and quite a change from the usual.

Not had that issue yet but will certainly give them a squeeze now to try and determine bread stabilityMick McQuaid wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 1:31 pmIn theory it should be a good ahout but both times I've tried the bread had started to go soggy.

Re: Whats the best sandwich?
I think it's from the pickle placement and effects the inside of the bread, so try and pry it open a bit before squeezing. A close inspection of the spinach freshness is also required.

Re: Whats the best sandwich?
Homemade cheese and onion on crusty bread. A dash of mayonnaise. I pity those countless numbers of workers who make sandwiches for supermarkets and other outlets. I reckon their own interest in sandwiches is limited.
