Lovely. Cardboard certified as above, free trade palm sugar and almond milk. Only £6.50 per 50g bar. How many will I put you down for?Currywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 1:48 pmAs long the cardboard is from a single source recycling plant and certified genocide free then I’m happy to support a small independent business.Celtient wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 1:45 pmWould you like to buy some chocolate I'm making from recycled cardboard?Currywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 1:05 pm
It’s better for the environment though than industrial dairy industry cheese
I like to feel like I’m alleviating the genocidal climate crisis when I’m eating my £7 craft single batch sourdough focaccia.

Re: Walthamstow updates
Starbucks opening opposite Blackhorse Road station (and also directly opposite two already established cafes which are next door to each other, one which caters for the likes of me, the other - which is also good - frequented by the tradies and Bulgarians). And a Greggs coming next, apparently, to fill the gaping 1 mile void between Tottenham Hale retail park and Stow High Street which was yet to be conquered. Really tapping into the 'independent traders and makers
' vibe they're so keen to go on about.
Re: Walthamstow updates
I assume the new Greggs will attract the same amount of backlash as the mooted Gail’s given that it’s all about the need to protect independent bakeries and nothing to do with the owner’s nationality

Re: Walthamstow updates
A generally accurate ITK neighbour said it was all off the other day but not seen anything that suggests that's the case. Petition was so small I'd be amazed if that was enough to see if off, although apparently most of the Village High Street real estate is owned by a couple of people so maybe you only need to convince one person?Give it to Jabo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 11:26 am Have Gails definitely abandoned Walthamstow Village, then?

Two Gail's in Walthamstow, then. Too many chain shops in the country: support your local independent retailer....

Re: Walthamstow updates
Wild Card Brewery look like they're stuffed, Council have locked them out of the brewery on Lockwood Way, apparently over rent owed from COVID times. Not sure what that means for The Tav but one less stop on the beer mile.

Beerblfish also ceasing trading in March. The beer mile might end up being a beer 500 yards at this rate.

Re: Walthamstow updates
While we're here, Starbucks is pleasingly dead most of the time, save for the rich Asian students in the nearby plush student accommodation blocks. And the local litter situation has deteriorated even further since Greggs opened. Bins are so complicated to use!Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 10:45 am Starbucks opening opposite Blackhorse Road station (and also directly opposite two already established cafes which are next door to each other, one which caters for the likes of me, the other - which is also good - frequented by the tradies and Bulgarians). Re: Walthamstow updates
Ventured into the Ferry Inn the other day after many years of absence. It's always been one of those pubs that should be so much better than what it is. And it appears nothing has changed

Re: Walthamstow updates
That's a very good description. Such a great location and a nicely set out pub but just all feels a bit lazy. Food is a real no-no as well (or was last time I tried, think they even microwaved a side salad).

Although another 10 yards and we could pass this off as Tottenham's problem.

Re: Walthamstow updates
I’ve had the same pie in there twice in recent months before spurs games. One was surprisingly VERY good, the other almost inedible

I know somebody who was there over Christmas, and ordered the duck breast off their festive menu. Broke their tooth.
