There's a slim chance he'll still be here if we get promoted and Nige brings in the new investors with the wedge to take a controlling stake. But it is slim. Either way, he'll be playing Championship football next season.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 10:13 amI'm sure they've already had that discussion and Ethan knows it'll happen in the summer if he keeps on doing what he's doing. The Reverend wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 10:00 am His value will likely go up by the summer anyway. The one part that I’m less sure about is the impact it’ll have on the player. Will he feel resentful that he has been denied the opportunity to play football at a higher level and presumably for a higher wage?

Exactly, he knows the big pay day is coming. And without having to rush it last minute, he should be able to secure better deal, playing a few potential suitors off against each other. Plus he gets half a season here playing attacking football in a winning team with the play offs in prospect, or sit on the bench watching Swansea see out a mediocre season.OyinbO wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 11:36 amThere's a slim chance he'll still be here if we get promoted and Nige brings in the new investors with the wedge to take a controlling stake. I'm sure he's ok about it.

Re: Well done Nigel Travis
The sensible thing to do is to get him to sign a 2 years extension with a £1m break clause that says we have to sell him, maybe with a little pay rise as a sweetener. It will increase the asking price and everyone wins.

I always thought players were reluctant to do that because it impacts on their signing on fee at the new club.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 12:21 pm The sensible thing to do is to get him to sign a 2 years extension with a £1m break clause that says we have to sell him, maybe with a little pay rise as a sweetener. Goes without saying that there's nothing wrong with ambition, but ambition talk at Brisbane road is very limited. Because Wimbledon did it doesn't make it ok we should too, especially when you consider that gates in the Championship for us could be in the region of 15, 000. It's a crying shame that we can't think in those terms, and Nigel T must be extremely frustrated by this too. Hearn has so much to answer for in this regard. When the history of this football club is rewritten in 50 years time he should be castigated for the suppression of any ambition he held out for this football club.
As far as Bournemouth are concerned it has always been a mystery to me as to why there never seems to be talk of expansion at Dean Court especially as they are establishing themselves as a premier league outfit. Playing attractive football as well. Maybe someone has heard something I haven't?

I agree that Hearn did not consider in expanding the Ground as he still thought we were “ Little old Orient “ who attracted gates of around 5000. The Justin stand could have housed more supporters .To get the money for the 3 new stands he puts 4 blocks of flats in the corners limiting the ground capacity. He has a lot to answer for.Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 12:54 pmGoes without saying that there's nothing wrong with ambition, but ambition talk at Brisbane road is very limited. As Lingy said in his interview, if we had accepted Swansea’s offer we would’ve only had five hours left to sign any more players. Best to wait until the Summer when we can take our time and get in the right players in . Anyway , with the strong position we’re at the moment in the league , now isn’t the time to go selling one of our best players.

Yes as per Kone you're looking £5 million+ for those but I can see plenty of £2 million fees for midfielders and defenders in the TransferMarkt history. Somewhere around the £1.5-2 million mark in summer would be sound busines imo.aylesburyos wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 9:48 pmStrikers go for a lot more. I suspect Ethan is worth £1.5m . However if they saw him Saturday it would be less. Maybe his worse game for the O's?
We have no obligation to sell cheap nor should we. If clubs want a quality player they can pay top dollar.
