Good point . I wonder if we could also try DJ as a striker .Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 8:43 amAgyei must be looking good for them to risk the rest of the season without another striker.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 12:44 am Good window on paper. Would have been nice to get another striker in but there’s plenty of threat from midfield now, we should be alright until the end of the season.
Good that it isn’t just loanees coming in too.
Agyei and Kelman, with support from Perkins where needed, is good for me now they won’t have to fill in the wide positions as well.

He has featured there already, with about as much success as he's had on the wing.

Interesting info from him. let's see how the new guys perform long-term and if we can get a million plus plus in the summer for one or more of the players.

To be fair to DJ he has improved a lot lately . Maybe he just needs a run of games . We only have two strikers so if the opportunity arises I think we should try him there again .Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 9:44 am He has featured there already, with about as much success as he's had on the wing.

Re: Lingy Jan transfer window chat
Pretty good windows. Best in my memory tbh. Risky not getting a striker in but I get that we have more players who can do a job there than at cb if the need arises.
Can’t really say the club lacks ambition after rejecting that bid. Good on em.

On the basis that a club cant get every piece of recruitment right and last January went wrong, I feel Lingy has done a great job in getting our transfers right over time and especially this January. In todays modern game, there is no way a coach/manager can do the job on his own without impacting on his prime responsibilities. You cant beat grey hair experience. Well done Lingy.

Lingy has done a good job of getting them over the line but as he mentions in his interview, Richie is identifying the players now and Lings role is an admin one (I’m sure a difficult one nonetheless).DuvB wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 11:37 am On the basis that a club cant get every piece of recruitment right and last January went wrong, I feel Lingy has done a great job in getting our transfers right over time and especially this January. It’s good the club seem to have finally made the process slicker and I don’t think it’s a coincidence how much better this window was compared to 12

Not strictly true especially as Ling says he has had his eye on Williams since he was 18 years old and has tried to sign him before.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 11:44 amLingy has done a good job of getting them over the line but as he mentions in his interview, Richie is identifying the players now and Lings role is an admin one (I’m sure a difficult one nonetheless).DuvB wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 11:37 am On the basis that a club cant get every piece of recruitment right and last January went wrong, I feel Lingy has done a great job in getting our transfers right over time and especially this January. It looks like trimming down the Transfer Committee to two members was the right move.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 11:44 amLingy has done a good job of getting them over the line but as he mentions in his interview, Richie is identifying the players now and Lings role is an admin one (I’m sure a difficult one nonetheless).DuvB wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 11:37 am On the basis that a club cant get every piece of recruitment right and last January went wrong, I feel Lingy has done a great job in getting our transfers right over time and especially this January. Although he also says he sold Zakuani for £1m back in 1993, no in 2003, so who knows. (It was 2006, post promotion).

I really like ML he articulates well, covers most angles, think we are soo lucky to have him, he had a good relationship with the manager and chairman, I think the majority of players get along with him as well, I believe we are lucky to have him, but that’s only my opinion. Up the O’s

Let’s just say that Richie Wellens is a rising tide that lifts all boats. Even knackered old ones that are only just about seaworthy.

Don't think Ling is responsible for all that much either way these days. To be fair to him, he seemed on good form in that interview, by his standards. Must be nice to be in Richie's slipstream right now.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 6:13 pm Orient do something bad= Ling is responsible

Re: Lingy Jan transfer window chat
Presumably he is the main negotiator once players have been identified and Richie has sold the club to the player?OyinbO wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 6:57 pmDon't think Ling is responsible for all that much either way these days. That’s still a significant role and one we can only guess at how good at it he is.
