Re: Recruitment
Still got a bit of the window to go but from business so far there's been a noticeable step up in the quality of player brought in compared to this time last year. Credit where it's due, much improved thus far.
Now just don't sell Galbraith for peanuts please, either he stays or we need a ridiculous fee in the millions, Peterborough style

Re: Recruitment
Next few days will be massive. Sounds like we're stuck on the striker position which Wellens has sounded understanding of, and with Agyei supposedly back by the City game, we might get away with being short in that position. Read between the lines, we'll get another wide player coming in. But probably now need to find another centre back which is a big blow, as Beckles has been player of the season imo.

Re: Recruitment
Why is it we can find players for every position except striker? And it’s not just January, it’s been the last few seasons. We are a bad tackle away from not having any strikers in the match day squad

Re: Recruitment
Ritchie chooses who he wants and Ling gets the contracts sorted, the transfer committee ceased to exist ages ago.
RW has the final say and takes all the credit, that’s why we are where we are now .

Re: Recruitment
Not so worried about a forward we have a problem now with a centre half. Beckles is a massive blow. Happe still not 100%. Simpson injured we need back up immediately. Can Currie move inside with Sweeney playing LB. Clare is now injured so new signing can be moved into his position. Worrying times. Why does it always happen to us when we get into a strong position.

Wellens explains it in the post match interview, reckons it's the hardest position to recruit for.Story of O wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 11:37 pm Why is it we can find players for every position except striker? Re: Recruitment
There are less ‘strikers’ out there than there are the creative/floaty wingers/10s, just because most teams only play 1 up top with 3 behind these days.

Re: Recruitment
Richie has said in interviews that a CF is the hardest position to fill. They have spoken to a number of clubs about forwards and the answer they get is you can have someone on loan only. We need to sign someone as we have so many loan players.Story of O wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 11:37 pm Why is it we can find players for every position except striker? Re: Recruitment
I said time and time again it was massively overblown, we were doing very poor in the league, it was always a mid-table squad that could easily avoid relegation and with a manager that a bit similar to last season once he got his tactics and squad flowing for the season, started producing results
Strikers the gutting one is Kone playing at Level 8 in Dagenham down the road, would've been avaliable for a pack of match balls

Re: Recruitment
You seem pretty confident of the inner workings of the football club for a bloke that can't spell the manager's name even.PoundhillO wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 11:55 pm Ritchie chooses who he wants and Ling gets the contracts sorted, the transfer committee ceased to exist ages ago.

Re: Recruitment
Goal scorers are hard to find and cost more than we cannot afford particularly in the January window. Arsenal cannot even find oneStory of O wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 11:37 pm Why is it we can find players for every position except striker? And it’s not just January, it’s been the last few seasons.
