We're so f*cked.

I posted on the Labour thread why there's no point blaming Labour for this (although, don't hold out any hope that they can solve it either). This is structural.
Can I ask - What does that mean for me ?

Does it mean interest rates are going to go up ? Inflation ?

If I'm going to get f*cked I'd like to know the direction the f*cking is coming from.
The good news is that you wont need to worry about second guessing. The bad news is that's because you're going to get f*cked from every direction.

Generally, it indicates we're grappling with structural problems. The result is higher Government debt costs, which they will typically seek to finance through taxation and/or spending cuts. We could well end up with increased taxes and more austerity.

A further option is money printing, but that risks a return to double-digit inflation, which leads to higher mortgage repayments, recession, unemployment and low investment.
Here it comes. They'll go for the lower hanging fruit first, but this is just the start.

We need a balanced approach. As well as attacking the destitute and insane Keith needs to raise income, corporate and Capital Gains tax.

Introducing a tax on wealth would be good too. But one step at a time I suppose.

Here it comes Part 2

Work on some of the 40 new hospitals Boris Johnson promised to build by 2030 will not begin until 2039, after a Labour rethink on a pledge it called “a work of fiction” by the Conservatives.

https://www.theguardian.com/society/202 ... until-2039

Not surprised by this, but there's no way Whipps Cross and some of these other hospitals can hang on until then.

Some of them will literally have fallen down by 2039.

Here it comes Part 3

UK pay after inflation has risen at its fastest rate for more than three years, driven by strong wage growth in the private sector.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4g372w32vjo

Two things:
1 - If you were holding out hope for an interest rate cut this year, then that's increasingly looking unlikely to happen.
2 - Don't be surprised if Labour are made to implement a Boriswave2 immigration drive in an attempt to drive down average wages.

Here it comes Part 219

Latest UN fertility data in the graph format shows the utter clusterf*ck heading the way of just about every major economy. Say goodbye to pensions and any semblance of public healthcare entitlements. Not even immigration can prevent this, as it's clear that the well from which we've drawn these last few decades is running dry globally.

The well is running dry because the billionaires are hoarding all the wealth in tax havens. If it was shared out amongst the general population to bring living standards up people would be secure and the humping would recommence. Maybe more tax breaks would help the mad shaggers.

Less people is what's going to happen regardless. That outcome is baked in. It's the transition from population growth to contraction that will be, er, interesting.

And, no, there's no point moving to DRC. All of those countries are experiencing their average fertility rates reducing too. They just are a bit behind the curve.

Assuming we seize the wealth of the billionaires, how does that help us if there's not enough people to run a society where most of the population is very old?

Ahh I get it now. There's nothing we can do. Right?

What about putting family allowance up to £200 a week and removing the 2 child benefit cap? I know I'm grasping at straws but would that be a stimulus for more shagging.

Is the answer to create more young people by creating the conditions that enables them to procreate. Banning online porn might help. No?

It also buys shed loads of British goods (quite often armaments) that keep workers here in jobs. Much of the so called aid includes trade guarantees etc.
