Brighton 4 - Orient 4, 1997 - my first ever away game

Walking up Wembley Way, a little drunk, before the Playoff Final, 1999

Oxford 2 - Orient 3, 2006 - obviously

Orient 1 - Arsenal 1, 2011 - even the goal celebration alone

Gillingham 2 - Orient 0, 2023 - real jubilation
Can't believe I didn't put Gillingham 2023 in there. I'm going to be editing and re-editing this all day.

Are we doing 'games' or 'moments'? Memories lends itself more to moments, so here goes:

OFF getting thrown out of Boltons brand new Premier League Reebok Stadium after threatening the local herberts with his crutches, missing our last minute equaliser to draw the game 4-4.

Driving through Wanstead (pre A12 link road) after beating Spurs, people hanging out of car windows, waving scarves and tooting like something you'd see in an Italian plaza after a European Cup win.

Turning up at the ground to meet a load of wierdos off the internet for the first MBXI football game.

The pitch invasion after beating Wrexham in the play off final.

Being messaged by the then Orient CEO to come and say some things to his face over coffee.

If its football memories then
Chelsea FA Cup 1972
Chelsea FA Cup 1978
Middlesbrough FA Cup 1978
Wrexham 1989
1969/70 season.

If its other memories throw in
Birmingham 1972 for sheer drama.
Middlesbrough away 1978 for getting back to station in one piece!
Gillingham away for surrealism.

I've left out the fight on the South Terrace when we played Southampton in the FA Cup. Some fella done a running jumping kick like something out of a Bruce Lee film, totally wiped the other dude out.

1. Wrexham '89. The 80's was a pretty dire decade at Orient so this was a shining nugget in what had been a good few years of utter turd.
2. Brentford '92. Mad, mad game topped off by a truly insane refereeing performance by David Elleray. Never a red for King Kenny.
3. Rotherham '99. Must've smoked 20 Silk Cut watching that. Horrible atmosphere in a horrible place. Got back to my car to find someone had broken into it and nicked my suit trousers but left the jacket. Bizarre.
4. Oxford '06. Doubly enjoyed as my brother-in-law is an Oxford fan and a complete arse-head to boot.
5. Villa '14 - league cup. Much deserved victory which led to me proclaiming we'd piss our way through league 1, which, I suppose in a way, we did.

Orient 2 Wimbledon 6.. Wimbledon were marching through the leagues on the way to div 1/ the prem. They pulverised us.
Orient vs forest fa cup. Forgot the score. Sutton your mother’s a goat.
Peterborough vs Orient. 1-3. Never seen us play better. Top of the league. We’re Leyton Orient.
Buckingham town 0 Orient 2. The bad old days of crowd trouble but it was intoxicating for a youngster.
Woodford town 0 Orient 1. The only time I didn’t care who won being from Woodford.

If the City game is, as is most likely, underwhelming then we will wonder what all the fuss was about. Or if we somehow give City a fright or even beat them, it will be that game that we will remember.
Surprised you didn't get burnt at the virtual stake for this - even though you're kinda right. Time will tell about the Derby game, it may not make many people's top 5 once the buzz has worn off and whatever new stuff is happening consumes people's attention, but I do think it will age well.

Some weird ones.

- beating Wales (as a kid it seemed mental and sort of something I could brag about for once)
- Peterborough away 13/14 - just a dominating performance that was otherworldly for an orient team.
- playoff semi final pitch invasion vs Peterborough. Thought it was our year.
- arsenal tehoue goal - never jumped so high as when that hit the net.
- Bonne late pen vs Sutton. Thought we’d f*cked it halfway through that game. Basically sent us up.

Cox and Moses goals in the playoff final would be in there as individual moments, without context. Easy to forget how immense that feeling was given what happened

League 2 champions - 2023
Beating Derby - Tuesday

Honorable mentions

Lockwood's amazing hattrick to bring us back from 0-3 down
Beating Rushden 5-1 (Easton I think with a wonder goal)
beating Forest away 1-3

Elleray nearly caused a riot that day. One of the worst refereeing decisions I have ever seen in 58 years of watching football.

I just remember sliding about in mud and various "faces" off Broadmead having some minor tear-ups. Orient from memory were utter sh*t that day and lucky to get away with a 1-0.

That’s right. All the “mead” were there. Setting off fireworks and generally misbehaving.

Well, all you young people, you wouldn't remember 63 when Orient beat Man U and Liverpool at Brissie.
\Mostly all standing and 30,000 in the ground. Nigel, bless him, was probably there too on the North terrace like me.
Great team captained by Stan Charlton.
Ok grandad....shut up.

And yes, I was at Oxford for that game but with Oxford mates so had to keep quiet in the home end or get my head kicked in. Good result.

Unexpected choice is the 2-2 with Leeds at home when Thornton scored two after we were 2-0 with ten men (think I’ve remembered that right) and the 1-0 norwich win in Slades first home game

Both corkers for sure, although the second was 2-1

Tehoué goal v Arsenal, utter chaos and still can't resist that clip

Peterborough second leg playoff semi-final, one of the few times you could say the roof nearly came off at BR

Winning National League, the relief of getting out of tinpot NL and seeing Orient actually win something as Champions

Winning League 2 and the subsequent celebrations including getting hands on the trophy, never thought I'd see Orient win one title let alone two in quick succession

Lockwood screamer vs Hull to send us to the 2001 playoff final, what a hit and giving it to the away fans after, glorious
