The Three v The Six 46 years on

Post by spen666 »

Back on 3 January 1973 to celebrate the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland & Denmark joining the EEC, a match was held at Wembley between the 3 (UK, Republic of Ireland & Denmark) and the 6 ( West Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Belgium & Luxembourg). The 6 winning 2-0.

Wonder if any plans have been made for a return fixture after 31 October, the 27 v 1?

Be interesting to see the line ups if such a match went ahead.

Back in 1973 only 4 players were playing for clubs outside their country of nationality ( assuming UK was one country).

Jensen of Denmark played for a West Getman club
Johnny Giles of RoI played for Leeds and
Blankenburg, a German played for Ajax.
Olsen playing for Utrecht & Denmark

Just to point out that Savile was never actually convicted of any crimes against hair.
