Been back a while but wanted to see both goals again (available here https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/s ... ton-orient). Definitely a game of two halves as they say. Thought we dominated the first 15 minutes without looking dangerous and then gifted them a really soft goal (though not as soft as the equaliser) through some dreadful marking. After that our defence had an attack of the jitters and Brill kept us in the game with at least one world class save. we dominated the second half and fully deserved a point. Six games in our front line is still work in progress but when they get it right we are so gonna score goals.

Brill - 7 - as an outfield player he is one hell of a goalkeeper with some stupendous saves in the first half - just pack it in with the short passes
Happe - 7 - playing on the left of a back 4 I thought he might struggle for pace but was absolutely solid.
Coulson - 6 - think he might have Tuesday off after that but was solid except for their set pieces (they are very good at set pieces)
Ekpiteta - 6 - same remarks as Coulson
Ling - 7.5 - along with Hooky I am his biggest critic but even before THAT pass he was a contender for man of the match
Wright - 6 - given we sort of had four bodies in the middle we really struggled there in the first half. Played much better after the break
Clay - 6 - seems to be struggling for pace and doesn't impose himself in the middle at the moment despite being my player of the season choice
Brophy - 5.5 - totally anonymous in the first half and only looked like an attacking force when he dropped to LB. He's a winger/WB, play to his strengths
Dennis - 5 - didn't really turn up today .....and that miss!!
Angel - 8 - MoM, was all over the place, winning balls in the air, excellent hold up play. He will score a few goals this season
Wilkinson - 5.5 - fell over and got fouled a lot, not much else. Doesn't play off Angel very well at the moment

Maguire-Drew - 7 - made such a difference when he came on. He is our set piece specialist, whipping them in much better than Brophy
Harold/Judd - na - not on long enough, though just the right length for Harold if you get my drift

Really difficult to call as we were up and down, as we have been all season to be fair.

Brill 6 - didn’t even move for their goal but a great save shortly after to keep us in it. O e dodgy pass out but got away with it.

Ling 5 - totally anonymous all game.

Happe 8 - done a decent job at left back then looked even better after reverting back to CB.

Coulson 7 - solid enough. Rarely troubled.

Marvin 7 - same as Coulson.

Clay 8 - proper battled.

Wright 5 - anonymous as well. Carried by Clay to a certain extent. We are missing Jobi.

Brophy 6 - hot and cold.

Angol 7 - busy.

Wilkinson 5 - not in the game. Not sure this system will work for him.

Dennis 6 - I like him but not much worked for him today.

JMD 5 - not sure what’s going on, not fulfilling the potential he showed last season.

We played ok, especially the second half. We just need to cut out these moments where we switch off. Angol and Brophy will get the flak for letting the scorer run off of them but there should have been a CM in that hole protecting the back line. I have no idea where clay or Wright were. We need to be better organised.

Onwards and upwards.

Didn't go today but a little frustrating that it hasn't clicked for our strikers yet. Maybe drop Wilkinson and have Brophy and Dennis playing either side of Angol would work well?

There’s definitely potential in all of them. But yeah, that’s not a bad shout. The only problem is you’d have to play JMD behind the front 3 and he’s off the boil at present...

Why have a number 10 then?
You should have enough attacking options.
Protect the Back 4 with a midfield 3. Marsh sitting deep with Clay & Wright either side of him.

No idea on Marsh but the fact he hasn’t played a minute suggests he’s not the player we all expected him to be.

But you can’t play with 3 holding CMs, that’s ridiculous. And 3 forward thinking players isn’t enough. No one ever sets up like that.

Decent summary though Ling deserves better than a 5. And yes, we seem to switch off sometimes and better organised.

It wasn’t a straight forward chance.

Wilkinson as a 7 is more of a surprise to me.

Had a couple of shots. What I was saying was that it looms like someone who wasn't there trying to come up with scores.

Yeah I get that, 6s across the board except for Dennis who had a lot of the ball. All I remember Wilkinson doing is getting put on his arse, I’d forgotten his long range shots.
