Thanks to Justin and Richie.
And the DoF
Basically the success he claims as his own relied on two strong managers doing things their way, with a squad of pros.
Pros brought in by Ling. Our squad for league 2 was excellent and he obviously deserves credit for the part he played in one of our only ever titles. Revising our record so that everything good was despite Ling, and everything bad was because of Ling, is certainly a take.

Guys hit his ceiling but trashing his achievements at the club is unnecessary and silly.

Thanks to Justin and Richie.
And the DoF
The DoF had us on course for NL South before JE bailed him out
The DoF appointed Fletcher and Embleton (two sackable offences right there)
The DoF gave Jackett the worst January transfer window the club had ever seen leaving us on the brink of NL before Richie bailed him out

Basically the success he claims as his own relied on two strong managers doing things their way, with a squad of pros. Once the old tropes of weak youth players and injury prone signings come back round then the cycle repeats again.

We often talk about the Brentford / Peterborough model but we still look miles away from getting anywhere near that.
Your reply is selective nonsense. Apparrently when we fail its the DoFs fault, and when we succeed its the managers.

Ling appointed two great managers in Justin and Richie. Basically the failure was due to weaker managers doing things their own way, with a squad of pros.

Reply is selective nonsense like yours.

Looking at it objectively, over the whole the period that the DoF has overseen, Orient have been more successful than not.

Ling has not had a decisive role in picking the "Head Coach" since Embleton second time around, and for good reason. And he didn't have to put any work in to get JE, JE was very forceful in putting himself forward for the role. Thank God.

This is right and for us all (or most of us) to see. But this has nothing to do with Richie, it's the recruitment that is the cause of it all.

It has as much to do with Richie as the recruitment. If we're looking to apportion blame, let's not take sides and accept that there are many causes.

Don't want to see Wellens sacked, but he's over-rated by some on here, and also by himself

He could do with working on certain things such as:

* Behaving like a baboon on the touchline- such as kicking bottles and haranguing officials. This is a really, really, bad look and reflects badly on himself and on the club. He would probably justify it as passion but it's not, it's just moronic.

* Micro-management of the players during games. They are professional footballers. They have played football their whole lives - he doesn't need to kick every ball. If my Boss did this I would grow to dislike him. Perhaps some players already are.

* Blaming everyone but himself for everything that goes wrong. He knows we're a small club (in L1 terms). Sometimes you have to work with what you're given. I get it, the squad isn't great, but get on with the job of improving the players instead.

Don't get me wrong, he's good copy/a good talker and that think that has fooled people into thinking he's some kind of messiah. He's failed at more clubs than he's succeeded at (and of course, he would offer up reasons why none of those were his fault).

Started well at Swindon and didn't really sustain it. I sincerely hope that doesn't play out at Orient, but he needs to do better overall. Behaving like a gent on the touchline, rather than a chav would go some way to moving him (and the club) into a position of garnering more respect, for a start.

We should have scored 7 or 8 yesterday - we just scraped the win by a measly 4 goals! He’s got to go now!

Even though results wise we had a bad start to the season I was always confident and still am we will not get relegated simply because Richie Wellens is our manager . I rate Richie very highly and hope he’s with us for a long time to come . Definitely destined to manage a club at a higher level. Hopefully that might be with us.

Interesting results from the control experiment with Wellens watching from the stands.

Well yes, keep him there for the time being at least. A character with his terrible disciplinary record for shouting and screaming at officials seems like it could be having an effect on the players when he's close to the pitch.

You think a professional football manager gives a single f*ck about what anonymous weirdos on an unofficial forum say?

I think people are more thin-skinned than you and most people imagine. Do you think staff at the Club never tap into the most influential fans’ messageboard?

But why? The bloke had a decent career as professional player and has had a few managerial jobs now. Is he seriously thin skinned enough to care what people on here write? I find that very hard to believe.
