Injuries
Our luck is awful. Fair enough we didn't play well yet again, but we have had such bad luck. Not sure how we get out of it. Big dessions by the owners, maybe need to show a ruthless side and try something new?

Re: Injuries
How have we had bad luck? We had a full squad to choose from aside from Archibald. Graham has got injured again but that’s it. Every club will get injuries. We probably have fewer than most. It’s not the injuries that are killing us, it’s the players playing every week that aren’t good enough.

Re: Injuries
You make your own luck.
Richie knew he'd be without Archibald and Graham for most of the season but didn't sign replacements.
The game was tight until the second goal.

Re: Injuries
Is it luck or is it a symptom of the recruitment methods? It's become a running joke that a player needs to have at least one leg with a serious injury to be in contention of signing. False economy that ends up costing more in the long run.

Re: Injuries
It’s nothing to do with luck. What was the coaching staff thinking bringing Graham on as the final sub. In the games since he came back he has looked like a player waiting to break down again. He has bottled out of tackles and gone down every time he got touched. He was never going to be the new signing we all hoped for. It was nothing short of reckless throwing him into a game like that especially with no subs left.

Interestingly they are our two of our best paid players. Considering their injury history and we offered Theo a deal when we knew he would be injured for at least some of the season, is mentalLong slender neck wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 10:11 pm You make your own luck.

Correct . Just to add though you forgot to mention Clare who is still out injured so not a full squad .Beradogs wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 10:07 pm How have we had bad luck? Re: Injuries
In the Outlook podcast this week Richie said Graham wasn't at his usual levels in training so does seem risky to throw him into a match after hearing that. Devoid of any other options?George M wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 10:49 pm It’s nothing to do with luck. What was the coaching staff thinking bringing Graham on as the final sub. ONeill, Obeiro and Donley all missing tonight - not sure if any of those are also crocked?

Literally no idea how you’re getting upset with us bringing on our only attacking option for the final 17 minutes in a game we’re losing at home…

Obiero and Donley not doing enough to justify a spot was the impression I got from the Outlook interview with RW

Re: Injuries
If you had been to any of the games that Graham has come on in recent weeks , as I have , you would have seen a player avoiding tackles and stretching and looking uncomfortable after a run. In a game that we were not out of , it was a high risk decision putting a player on as the last sub knowing that any heavy tackle would likely see him go down. Going down to ten cost us any chance of recovering therefore it was a reckless decision for the player and a brainless one by the coaching team.

Re: Injuries
Then don't have him in the squad, if he's not ready to make any contribution at all - in your opinion - he's wasting a space on the bench.George M wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 7:52 am If you had been to any of the games that Graham has come on in recent weeks , as I have , you would have seen a player avoiding tackles and stretching and looking uncomfortable after a run. Not that that's an issue now, sadly.

Re: Injuries
Exactly that. It’s not just my opinion. It is , sadly , a fact. If I , and others in the crowd I spoke to could see it coming , why couldn’t the coaching staff.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 8:14 amThen don't have him in the squad, if he's not ready to make any contribution at all - in your opinion - he's wasting a space on the bench.George M wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 7:52 am If you had been to any of the games that Graham has come on in recent weeks , as I have , you would have seen a player avoiding tackles and stretching and looking uncomfortable after a run. Richie said in his post match interview that Theo and Graham are two of the highest earners at the club.
Theo was out of contract in the summer, whilst having a serious injury and having a few serious knee injuries over the last few years.
I can’t see another club giving him a contract in the summer, so out of loyalty we gave him one, which I think was the right thing to do. But obviously there is a risk there.
The club had a massive upper hand in terms of his market value being very low, the fact Theo wasn’t fit with a history of similar issues, the fact that he knew the club and wouldn’t have to relocate and that the club took on the risk that he wouldn’t recover/wouldn’t be the same player. Essentially, Theo had little bargaining tools to get a decent pay day.
I’m not saying we should take the piss with him and offer him pennies but with the above it mind, how do the club then make him one of our highest earners?
That’s mental to me

Re: Injuries
Understood. It’s hardly a gesture to give the guy another contract but give him a huge wage cut. I also think they can’t offer him lesser terms for a new contract. I might be wrong on that but I don’t think so.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 9:26 amBlimey.DrWindy wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 9:13 amSorry, you have lost me. End of the day it’s a business as we keep being told. It feels like a good example that the way we manage our smallish budget needs some work.

Would be interesting to find out to what extent ( if any) the Club’s insurance policies cover in terms of funding Archibald & Graham’s wages now that both are unable to play. Hopefully there is some degree of mitigation to the budget through that?

Re: Injuries
As others have said I think the issue is we have made some poor recruitment decisions. Too many players not near the level required.
I was disappointed to see Rob Hunt go but understood that he wasn’t going to take us to the next level. Some of the guys brought in even excluding the loan guys have been significantly inferior. We have never had a bigger budget but we have had plenty of better players.

Asked on the forum. NT confirmed no insurance payments. Medical costs only are insured.redintheface wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 9:38 am Would be interesting to find out to what extent ( if any) the Club’s insurance policies cover in terms of funding Archibald & Graham’s wages now that both are unable to play.
