Lineker leaving MotD
Barely watch it these days but what a contribution he's made. Even those who disagree with his politics - and the way he airs them at times - must agree he's been a great host and honed his craft over the years. Wonder who will replace him? Mark Chapman would probably be the best fit IMHO but doubt he'll get the main gig.

Is there any surprise the BBC have been forced to make this move less than a week after Trump’s return?

I think it should be Alex Scott - you'll be able to hear the meltdowns from the moon.

I like her but she'd be a crap replacement. However, as you suggest, all the right people would be furious so if you were petty that would be some comfort.StillSpike wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 12:20 pm I think it should be Alex Scott - you'll be able to hear the meltdowns from the moon.

Re: Lineker leaving MotD
I’ve long since stopped watching it. Lineker is an excellent presenter, but not worth what he is paid, so I would imagine whoever takes over will be on a fair bit less salary, and the viewing figures will be largely unaffected – I don’t believe many people watch it due to Lineker being the host – so the licence fee payers money will be better spent.

Ana amazing man. Not many people can be the best in the world in one field and then be the same in an entirely different area. I heard the WC2026 will be his last gig, would be good if our boys could win it for him.
What a contrast to his bellend of a brother.

It'll be a woman who replaces him and she'll last 3 years at the most.
Or a typical BBC fudge, alternate programs presented by a man then a woman.

If they don't appoint a non-binary person of colour with a mangina, then I'm going to put my foot through the television screen and send Stonewall the bill.

Re: Lineker leaving MotD
Haven't watched it for years. Don't mind Lineker but the chat between matches with likes of Shearer used to bore me to tears. They should just show the matches and forget about presenters and pundits

Re: Lineker leaving MotD
Many years ago I met Lineker as a posh party in Hadley Wood.
The guy whose party it was brought him over to me before they played snooker. I said hello and told him that I was an Orient supporter. He said ' oh, you're the one' - meaning I was the only supporter! Banter, I guess.
I don't like him because of his politics and his BBC salary. I bet a woman replaces him which means I will again have to scroll forward over the chat like I do with Lineker.

Doesn't even need a presenter as we saw during his absence. Just have the titles before each game and save a couple of million.

Fair play for admitting out loud that, regardless of what she might actually say or whether she's any good at her job, you'd fully commit to ignoring a woman simply because she's a woman. 2024, everyone!

Re: Lineker leaving MotD
Idk, that was really sh*t and kind of underlined the importance of having people actually working on the show.
Can't think of a single good candidate to replace Lineker, but extremely grateful that Jenas was outed as a wrongun in time for his name to be out of contention.

What does his politics or salary have to do with hosting a football programme, or the gender or sexuality of his replacement?DuvB wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 4:44 pm Many years ago I met Lineker as a posh party in Hadley Wood.
