Fans booing their own players
Has anyone else noticed an increase in this trend? Especially the away team. A team loses and when they go over to the away end they are met with a chorus of boos and other abuse from their own fans. I’ve witnessed this three times already this season:
1. Rotherham
2. Blackpool
3. Our own fans are the Wycombe game
Booing your own players/manager used to be something that happened in extreme circumstances. Months of bad results, something dodgy going on up stairs or a specific players hands in a transfer request/makes silly comments about the club in the media.
Yesterday was particularly odd. It’s not even December and Blackpool aren’t even in the relegation zone and they were getting some proper abuse from some.
What’s this all about? Is it an entitlement thing?

Yes. People are just increasingly awful. See also idiots demanding refunds just because they've seen their side pumped at an away game.

I have booed in the past. Very rarely but it has only been done when no endeavour is shown.
I can quite happily accept if a player is lacking talent and would never publicly criticise that. But I cannot abide a player who does not try.
If I’ve paid hard earned cash (and possibly travelled at expensive too) it is the bare minimum fans should expect. I demand pride shown to put on that shirt. If that is not demonstrated, and if so blatantly, then I’m going to let the player(s) know about it.

For clarity, I don't really have any problem with booing. I love a boo at times. But as with everything else - manager sackings etc - no-one has any patience any more and loses the plot after one or two bad games. Just tiring.

Could be a number of things.
I’d imagine the cost of living doesn’t help. Club’s putting up ticket prices and travel being expensive and sh*t. People spend £200 to get to an away game, see their team put in a half arsed performance and have a 3 hour journey home to look forward to. Realise they don’t have to go but still.
Add to that life is hard atm and people use football as a way to pour out the frustration from the week gone by.
Plus people seemed more entitled these days. Look at this board. No ones happy, whatever division you are in unless you are top 7 and winning games

Under normal circumstances, would never boo my own players. Players can have off-days, but I don't believe that they just aren't trying. However, if I was a Motherwell fan, I would have booed Andy Halliday last weekend. He scored the opener for Well in the cup semi-final against his former club The Rangers. Instead of celebrating with his teammates and supporters, he ran to the opposition fans and made a gesture of apology. What a tosser.

After the existential threat of 2016/17 we've finally seen some winning mentality through the late, great JE and now RW too. Why shouldn't Orient keep that bounce going and show ambition to go further like others have managed?
That imo seems to be the split between those who liked the old days where it was all, to quote a recent post on here "a bit silly" vs perhaps what some now call the "entitled" who want to see more on-pitch success first and foremost.

I agree to a point. I agree with the sh*tty little Leyton Orient mentality but that optimism has to be balanced with reality. You can enjoy the bounce and still not expect it continue until we reach the premier league.
I’ll be gutted if we drop out of league one, because after the last ten years I’m more than happy to be back in league one. I’ll never be truely satisfied until we reach the championship though - I’m desperate to see us play there. But I also realise things take time and sometimes you have to step back to move forward.
I get it’s frustrating but we’ve played better football over the last 2 years than probably ever in our supporting lives.

That’s not the point. The point is that opposing fans are more likely to boo when they lose to Orient when Orient are near the bottom of the division, than to boo when losing to Orient when Orient are in a promotion chase

Ameobic level of intellect where people can't process that (unless it's a draw) their team has a 1 in 2 chance of losing the football match.
As a species we have peaked, and are regressing yearly. Look around you. Thousands upon thousands who can barely dress themselves properly or with any panache whatsoever (you don't need money to do this, we have charity shops), and where being an "acheiver" is having a sh*t BMW and snorting lines of heavily cut charlie at the weekend.
It's a societal problem that has flowed into football.
As RTW said, there was of course booing and dis-satisfaction in bygone eras... What there Wasn't was (allegedly) grown men throwing a hissy fit and mewling like infants every time their favourite football team loses. Personal abuse of players, revolting racism- the list goes on.
It's widely known that domestic violence increases during the football season, as morons hit their families after "their" team loses. That is a disgrace and something to be deeply ashamed of.
It's a game of football FFS.

Booing isn't supporting your team and is unlikely to make then play better, but I suppose if you'e paid good money for a ticket and spent a whole day travelling to be entertained and you've not been entertained then you have a right to boo.
