Current transfers

Post by Frogger »

While I think most of us on here will agree this current transfer window has been rather slow and uninspiring, we do have 4 new faces coming through the door.

What I would like to know is, do you think any of these transfers were Orients first choice? If so who and if not were they 2nd, 3rd or even lower down the list?

I have my thoughts on a few of them and feel most of these players coming in are just to bulk out the squad. Is it a hard transfer window with so many clubs having bigger budgets? Or is Orient a very unattractive option for decent league one players who are looking for new clubs?

RW knows exactly the type of players that he wants and I don't expect more failures like Pigott and the two Jan window loanees coming in.

It has been slow, absolutely but I think we have brought in some good quality.

Perkins looks lively, Kelman working hard as per his previous loan, DJ looks ok but will only get sharper and Warrington seems like a Galbraith mark II.

Richie said during his interview on Tuesday evening that two more players are lined up to sign . When does the squad fly off to their summer training camp. The reason why I’m asking is because I’m hoping these signings can be completed before the squad leaves for Spain . It would be beneficial to have these new players with us for this trip

Orient are probably attractive to players, however Property prices probably put many off

Property prices are cheaper the further out you go into Essex . That’s not to say they are cheap, per say.

If you'd like to know if they were first choices then why ask on here. We know very little - or even nothing in a great many cases.

It's really annoying to have Travis say we will be excited in the next two weeks and five weeks later we have two and another two on loan and losing two. More annoying for Richie to say that business was done too late last summer only for it appear to happen again this summer. After the St Albans game Richie appeared to suggest there would be two signings in the next 48 hours. As I write that is about five hours to go to make him right.
To be honest we may as well not to believe anything coming out of their mouths. Albeit it may be be out of their hands. Best keep your mouths closed.
Bring back the days when we relied on the local Guardian or Express for news once a week.

Really interersting question..

Kelman - first choice, Richie loves him.

DJ - first choice (given budgetary constraints), Richie is gambling he can make him a player (on the cheap).

Perkins - first choice (given budgetary constraints). Hoping he can be this seasons Shaq (I'm not convinced).

Warrington - not sure, given the fact he was released some time ago, either we had other priorities or he was sounding out other opportunities.

Triallists - none of them are first choice, else we wouldn't be trialling them.

Make comparisons ! Kelman for Ruel , just as good or bad . Warrington for Idris , jury’s out . DJ for Archibald I presume , he looks quite decent but I bet he will be less busy than Theo . Perkins for Forde , I doubt he’s ready to be as effective , Perkins will be a bench player
Then sanders not replaced , no
Keeper and no one to to replace piggot

So right now we are no way stronger . Lets hope the next five arrivals impress

He does but he's having to take gambles to get them - because of financials - and they don't always work out. Sanders is the prime example.

TBF, Sanders is actually quite a good player but the problem is he's injury prone .

I’m not too worried about a new striker but I am very worried that RW and the transfer committee have decided Howes is the number 1 for next season.

I can only imagine the players we wanted or looking at are not interested or have moved elsewhere. This is a key position and without a solid defence and keeper with it, the rest, in my opinion is inconsequential.

Let’s hope I am wrong and Howes steps up to the mark and is a colossus in goal.

Richie said on Tuesday night our next two signings are almost complete . Strong rumour is one is a keeper . Personally I was hoping both would sign before the squad flys off to Spain today but it looks like we will have to be a bit more patient .

Kind of backs up what I’m saying.

You can see that Sanders could be a ‘Wellens type player’. He’s played L1 football without setting it alight and not in the way we play.

We took a gamble that we’d be able to sign a cheap L1 player, get him up to speed and fit our system. But it didn’t work.

I would be astonished if Howlers is first choice keeper. The bloke is so far off the standard required it’s laughable.

I could not say how good/bad Howes is on the strength of seven games. Four were away from home and two in home cup matches which I did not attend. I hope all these opinions are based on attending all seven matches. I am aware that opinions have no need to be based on facts.
