Re: Jordan Brown
Jordan Browns contract at Leyton Orient ''two-year deal at the club, keeping him with the O's until at least the end of the 2024/25 season''
So this is the problem with giving a two year contract, end of this season he will be out of contract and free to move to the club which will pay him the best deal. Best option is to offer him a new enhanced contract and if he turns it down, then come January he can be available for offers. Same goes for Dan Agyei and Ethan Galbraith.

But the problem with giving 3 year contracts is George Moncur. It could have been Piggot, too.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 8:35 am Jordan Browns contract at Leyton Orient ''two-year deal at the club, keeping him with the O's until at least the end of the 2024/25 season''

Nothing wrong with a 2 year contract, as you say it just means we need to renegotiate at the end of the first year if we want to retain them.

Re: Jordan Brown
Jordan has done ok for us, solid if unspectacular, not sure Championship clubs (or aspiring Championship club) would take him tho.

Well that is a matter of judgement and player potential.aylesburyos wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 8:40 amYou could get a pigott type situation thoughSid Bishop wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 8:35 am Jordan Browns contract at Leyton Orient ''two-year deal at the club, keeping him with the O's until at least the end of the 2024/25 season''

With Browns last contract, we already knew the players potential and character when he signed his last contract, a lot different to a new player coming to the club.

Re: Jordan Brown
Maybe they weren't sure how he'd make the step up to L1 football. Maybe he didn't want to commit to 3 years?
Either way, I agree we should be re-negotiating now.

I wonder why we cant get players to sign a 2 year deal with the club having an option of a 3rd year at a higher wage.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 8:51 amBut the problem with giving 3 year contracts is George Moncur. Re: Jordan Brown
Brown , Galbraith & Agyei all need extended contracts.
Perhaps with the younger players (under 24?) we rely on the compensation we will get, as with Ruel. No idea of the compensation is similar to the transfer fee received under contract. It sure puts you in a very strong bargaining position if the player is under contract.
I’m sure Travis, Ling etc are well aware of all these factors and presumably it’s a balancing act.
Two year contracts give very little room for team development or transfers out. Hard to build a new team every other year, or effectively half a team every year.

So we need to get into a cycle of renegotiating mid contract rather than leaving everything to the last minute like we always seem to do in all departments…

Re: Jordan Brown
Yep spot on. I would be more excited in us tying down the above mentioned now, than any new player we may sign. Also the bonus being that they are totally focused on the present, rather than a season of uncertainty as the season draws on. There’s so many ways a contract can be drawn up to be mutually beneficial to both parties.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 10:08 am So we need to get into a cycle of renegotiating mid contract rather than leaving everything to the last minute like we always seem to do in all departments…

That is a good idea and a win win deal for all parties concerned.DuvB wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 9:36 amI wonder why we cant get players to sign a 2 year deal with the club having an option of a 3rd year at a higher wage.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 8:51 amBut the problem with giving 3 year contracts is George Moncur. This Jordan Brown rumour is just an AI simulation for Birmingham City transfers on a random website. I can't find the original source but it is paraphrased on Yahoo.

That deserves an award for most obscure transfer rumour source to date, done well to dig that one out. Re: Jordan Brown
You need to add Obeiro to that list.
I mentioned him to Kent Teague on Saturday as I had the pleasure of his company at the top of the stand. I wasn't telling him anything he didn't know and Obiero's agent is already making noises about what is now his obvious potential.
