Current squad and where we will end up

Post by Mightynewsman »

If we continue with this squad and don’t add some real quality looking at other clubs I the league and I can’t see 4 weak teams like last season it’s very likely we will end up in the bottom
4 this is getting dangerous now

All hinges on these 6 players RW wants brought in which will be probably something like the below (at least some of which you'd think should be here by now)

GK, LB, RB, CDM, winger, ST

Get those in all quality senior pros for the first XI then comfortably mid-table. Anything more might be tough going given the sides that have come down and the budgets they're wielding.

With the current squad we have as of today though, down by Christmas as it's lacking quality and depth throughout the spine at present.

Over to you recruitment team...

Could suffer a junior RB behind Tom James and a junior winger (Graham/ONeill/Theo already on board) but otherwise, yep - the keeper, leftback, 6/8 and striker need to be senior players all capable of going straight into the first team. No more crocks or loanee kids permitted.

10 of the 11 players who started the final game against Shrewsbury (3-1) are still in our squad.

Let`s all calm down.

I wonder who’s ultimately to blame for our snails pace recruitment process.

Maybe Lingys coffee machine has broken, seriously though, we still have the majority of last years squad and still have over a month to go until the opening game.

Oh dear Mightynewsman, you really have out done yourself with this nonsensical and preposterous post 🤦🏻‍♂️

It’s 2nd July, we still need to add 5-6 players to the 2 players, we have already added this week to the squad.

Do you seriously think this is the squad we will start the season with 🤔

Judge the squad when we have added 5-6 new players at start of the season.

In RW we trust

That's an exceptionally weak lineup for a final day dead rubber game, start with the same lineup at Bolton and expect a pasting.

Until El Miz gets unveiled elsewhere I'm still hoping on a miracle return, that CDM role is so vital and we've got no-one else even close to his level at present.

On one hand no but on the other hand who expected we'd start pre-season training with it?

Current players who didn`t start that game: O`Neill, Graham, Happe, Moncur, Sanders, Cooper, Kelman, Perkins, Pigott.

If we start the season with Howlers and Sweeney in our first choice XI, we’re in big trouble.

ABSOLUTELY NOBODY.

Unfortunately we want QUALITY players who fit a certain style. They tend to be wanted by bigger clubs on wages we cannot match. We have to hope our primary targets get overlooked by such clubs before those players agents will think about taking the pay cut.

None of which help at GK, LB, CDM and as for Pigott you'd hope he won't make the squad come start of the season either. Much work to be done yet.
