VAR1966

Post by BengeO »

Would we have won the World Cup if there had been VAR in 1966?
Or was the linesman a Very Astute Russian!

Yes, we would have won 3-2 not 4-2 as Geoff Hurst scored that final goal very late on in the game.

Not necessarily. The game would been played very differently if it had been ruled out.

BengeO is obviously an illegal immigrant or a disillusioned Jock with his heretical statement . Should he possess a British passport, should be removed immediately.

Yes, it always will be a nagging doubt as to whether the 'whole' ball was over the line, and whether we would have gone on to win the match. I have to admit i don't think it was. But I've always alleviated that doubt in my mind by saying that England were the best all round side in the competition - only just - and deserved to win the '66 World Cup.

''It was hoofed forward by Charlton''
no it wasn't, Bobby Moore did the long pass to Hurst ''
Quite obviously a doctored video clip showing the ball bounce off the bar onto the line.

I didn't think that anyone still actually believed that the whole of the ball crossed the line.

There are a bunch of cranks who have formed a cult that believes the whole ball crossed the line. Sensible people know it didn't.
